Yes, I have had many steroid injections into my ankles. This was about
15 years ago, though. I had other various joint problems & other symptoms before then but my ankle happened to get so badly swollen & painful I couldnt walk on it so i went to a foot/ankle doc for it. He couldnt figure out what was going on and I had no insurance so in depth testing & imaging was out of the question. I worked it out with an xray place to take just 1 image in the best way to possibly see what was going on. It didnt show anything. The swelling got so bad I could not put any shoe on and I was just diagnosed with "synovitis". He tried treating me with so many things and ended up giving me several steroid injections into my ankle. I think the pain of getting those shots while it was so swollen already almost felt worse than the pain in the ankle. Needless to say those shots didnt do anything for me. I went on like this for about
a year (and developed some swelling/stiffness in other joints plus other weird symptoms). Eventually it all just kind of disappeared and went away and all felt normal again including my ankle! Of course this was just my experience so it's possible it may help you.
