I saw my rheumy this morning. I will be adding mtx to the enbrel, so I'm on my way to remission (yay!). I saw my GI doctor a couple of months ago, and she told me that I definitely do not have IBD. To refresh, I had a colonoscopy last August and had multiple apthous ulcers throughout my colon, which is why IBD came up to begin with. This past February, a repeat colonoscopy showed no more ulcers and an otherwise normal colon (different GI than the one last August). In any case, she told me the ulcers were most likely caused by NSAIDS. I told my rheumy that this morning, and he's like, yeah, right. I swear he would have rolled his eyes if it were considered more professional. I claimed that I have not been having any lower GI symptoms actually since starting Humira, and now enbrel for 4 months. He said that he believes enbrel can control IBD; hence no symptoms. I recall that you started having multiple problems when you went off of enbrel, which is when you received the cd dx. So, do you think the enbrel controlled your cd? Did you have lower GI symptoms prior to starting enbrel? Or did enbrel just kick things up? As long as I'm not having any symptoms (and I'm staying on enbrel), I'm not terribly worried about
IBD. But I am curious. Needless to say, I will not be seeing this lady anymore. She told me when I was in her office that she had sick people to attend to and I was wasting her time!!! This is after she told me to schedule a follow-up appt.
