dear Ellen,

you've been a world of help THANKS!  what i know about medications is a lot, don't get me wrong...but every know & then i get hit with a "...well you can't take this along with that or you'll have to stop this to go on that..." eyes

i have written a few posts ago that i was upped to a DX of Mixed Connective Tissue Disease due to the existing RA & Crohns, heart & lung involvement but recently skin involvement and Lupus like symptoms.

my GI started me on Imuran in January, so that's 7 months. started on 25mg (they were hesitant on that because i weighed just 89 pounds).  it started to make a difference along w/ Humira & my other meds in April. lasted until the end of May.  and all the joints got worse, the RA progressed to the feet and ankles & went into a bad flare, which i feel i am JUST starting to plateu again (where things aren't getting worse).

in May he put me on 50mg Imuran daily.

so....tomorrow's the big day.  hoping he'll have some good insight.  he's a very intelligent guy.  he also works extremely well with my PCP.  they're my 2 best advocates.

will let you know how tomorrow goes!

Erin,

Keep me posted, I know they try to go by your body weight for how much Immuran you go on, but sounds like you were too low of a dose, but everyone is different.  I know it does take some "tweaking" to figure out what the right amount is for each person.  Did they have you do the blood tests every so many weeks to make sure that your blood counts and kidney readings were not messed up?  I know I did that, I now only go every quarter since we figured out what worked for me.

Let me know what they decide!  I am hoping things work out!

Hi & thanks for asking! :-)  Had my CBC and SMA18 every 2 weeks for 3 months (exhausting!) then every 3 weeks for 2 months & now every 4 weeks. Been on 50mg since May? I think? eyes Still on 50mg daily.

I'll write a new post about what happened, so lookie out for it in a few minutes!

Hi ya'all . Thanks so much for your input . I have been trying to exhaust all natural type remidies and coventional lab testing of my blood . So far I am the healthiest sick person I know ,lol... I just went to an alternative docters place today . We dicuscused the posibility of doing the antibiotics therapy . I just gave more blood and have to do some other tests first to see if I may have a type of bateria in my system. I have read on many sites that its possible that a bateria may of caused my AS. I have strong hope that this may be the case . I was sick about 2 years ago and took some antibiotics and I think back now and I remember feeling no pain and was so comfortable for many weeks . I am definetly willing to try that before I try enbrel. It was only 2 years ago I could hardly walk and was in horible pain 24/7 . At that point all I wanted was for someone to tell me what the hell is wrong with me and why am I am in so much pain . I could not Identify one spot on my back that hurt as it was so intence it was everywhere . I had some sucess with a chiroprator and been making some good progress with my physio . The newest therepy has been accupuncture , and I must say that I am feeling almost no pain at the moment . I decided last week to dump my vicodin pills in the garbage ,lol .... and Its day 2 and I am sure feeling weird . I hope it will be out of my system soon . If I need to use them again in the future I won't hesitate but after all my treatments seem to be helping with my pain .

Thanks for your input Erin . I am just going to keep pluging along with my treatments and see what happens . If I can do it without drugs , I will be very happy as there are so many side effects . For 15 years I managed with a naproxen here and there and alot of *****ing and a complaining about my pain . I then decided after working 3 years with 11 days off that I was going to take time off of work to find out what was wrong and then try to treat it . So far so good . I have made a good run so far . My rhumy paints a different picture for me and urges me to take emberl asap . I will use that as a last resort and am optomistic I can lead a "normal life" without drugs .... so will see ..... Its hard now not to take a vicodin as I feel that my body wants it but I don't ,lol.... so far I am winning .
