hi everyone tongue i was on my  computer and noted google had a new venue with video so i did a search on RA and found an excellent video, i thought, presented by dr. firestein from ucsd on md tv.  it is long with history and then goes to current treatments and ends with experimental treatments which i never heard of.  TNF inhibitors like etanercept and leflunomide.  anyway i just thought i would share the site info. go to google and choose video and search rhumatoid arthritits. i know alot of pepes are from cali. is he anyones doctor?  he seems real nice!

well why didnt they say that in the first place! hehehe i actually dont know him personally(embrel) but i hear he makes a great date? ok i am cookoo i have such a warped sence of humor that generally i only get it!

thanks ducky - i got to learn how to do that someday.

so what is the real name for leflunomide?..... hum.......i'll look it up maybe i know that one too! hehehe i am blonde u know at least today.... i think i sent u red head photos? or were they brunette?

Dear Yalinda, Leflunomide is the generic for Arava. I only know this because I just started on the Arava a month ago. So far I have not seen much improvement if any, but they did tell me it would take at least a month before noticing any difference. I was told by my rhuemy this week that I probably am going to have to have a hip replacement before long. I also have bi-lateral knee replacements with one now needing a revision after only 5 years. I am very down about this news which is probably why I haven't been posting on here. I am glad to talk to you and I want to say hi and be well to all my friends out there. Love, Nicole

thanks nicole! i did go online to look it up and came up with that arvara too. sry it is not working yet but maybe it needs time? let us know what the rhuemy says about a hip replacement. my mother in law had one knee done and is due this fall for the other one...... i know she has waited as long as possible because they dont last forever...... your has lasted only 5 years? well i hope you get better news in the future and feel free to vent here anytime. take care ~* yalinda

Yalinda, thanks for the kind words. It was only my left knee that lasted five years the right one is ok , at least so far. With the left knee the cement glue has loosened causing the prosthesis to slide to the side of the long bone going from the knee down. I believe its called the tibia. anyway, the revision is not something I'm looking forward to. I wish your mother in law the best , and I'm sure she knows if everything goes well it should last ten to fifteen years. I'm going to give the Arava another month and see what happens. take care, Nicole
