Hi All-

I think I'm retaining water! I don't know why. My fingers and feet are so swollen. I couldn't get my rings off last night without creating real pain. I thought they were going to be stuck on forever. They are still soswollen I can't hardly type or write. My feet hurt to walk on them. My next appt w/ my rhuem is on Oct 31st, kinda appropriate. Any ideas til then or should I call him?

I'am so sorry that you are having to deal with the edema(fluid retention)it can be a real big pain in the rear that's for sure.I know first hand how misserable having all of that fluid on you.I would like to ask has your Doctor given you any thing like Lasix or Bumex?I take a combo of both and it does help now don't get me wrong, I still carry some fluid on me but nothing like it is when I'm not on these two meds.I do know one thing for sure carring alot of fluid will make you misserable and it does hurts as well.Have you asked your Doctor if he can give you something for pain?Please let us know hgow things are going with you and you ever want to talk just e-mail me.

I new here so hello to everyone.
I was wondering about the swelling you were talkin about and what Chelle had to say about taking Lasix meds to get rid of some of the swelling. Does this really help for RA people? I hadnt heard that there was any meds to rid you of it. I to have swollen feet and hands alot of the time. I noticed that when it comes on you can almost watch it grow and it goes away that fast also lasting about 3 to 5 days. Rest usually helps. It usually occures when if have been doing something that is repeated over and over again. So I try when I can to not do those sort of things. I am a hairstylist at trade so this is difficult to avoid when I do go to work. I have been working less and less. well I was just curious as to why a dr wouldnt prescribe something for the swelling other than the usuall meds for RA

I'll talk to my rheumy when I go see him, unless it gets worse between now and then.

Renee-

Lasix is a diuretic. It pulls the water out of your system. I would think that it would help as any kind of pressure on the joints hurts like crazy. My grandma had very severe RA and I think I remember her being on it. I'll tell you what the dr has to say.
