how are you feeling today lori?

me very stiff and achy as i refuse to take my prednisone so i am paying the price of pain but i want to see just what the mtx if anything is doing? i hope i can last without it and i am dreading thanksgiving already but my rhuemmy apt isnt til dec 11 so i'll wait and see.

hi Lori,

ugh...a double edged sword huh?  i know what you're talking about.  my heart rate increases to about 70 per minute but it's a pounding feeling.  kinda like it's going to bust out of my chest! 

fever, rapid heart rate, sweats, shakiness SHOULD BE REPORTED to you MD!  just be sure she/he's aware of what you're feeling.  if you have heart problems it would be a very good idea to tell your MD how the pred effects you. 

Prednisone can also cause crazy symptoms like this when we're actually decreasing the dose as well!

it is sad that unfortunately this darn drug helps so much but can make ya feel so lousy in other ways.  but...we gots to do what we gots to do.

umh...i don't know if this helps, but with me....when i go on steroids, it feels like my leg joints are "unstable" kinda wobbly?  and legs are weak, hard to walk.

how long do you have to stay on it for?

Yalinda, Today I'm just so tired. I haven't slept for quite some time now. Last night I went to sleep at 11:30 P.M. and woke up at 2 A.M. and I'm still awake. Just really drained. I'm sorry you are feeling so achy. I almost refused to take mine also yesterday, but my daughter is a nurse and encouraged me to take it or there could be serious side affects. I don't want to ask for anything to help sleep cuz it'll be just another pill. And then I don't want them to think I'm med seeking. So hopefully I'll just drop.

Yes, I have been feeling very wobbly in my legs too as if I'm going to just fall. And I am real weak. I have been suffering with the bowels real bad. I don't know what it is.
The worst part is I'm really a nice person and very patient. But these days I have to hide in my room because I can't stand to hear any noise or I can't have anyone ask me to do anything for them. My mood is horrible. Like, I can bite their head off. I feel so terrible for this but I have no control. I don't even know myself right now. I guess I'll call my Rheumy tomorrow and fill him in.
Thank you so much for the advise. It really helps..cuz I know you know what you are talking about. I've been on them for a year now but at 15 mg. They never did this to me before. But I developed Pleurisy and I had a reaction from Humira, so he upped them to 30. It's been a week and a half and I have a week to go , then he said I can go down to 20mg. I hope you are feeling OK. Have you had troubles with not sleeping because of them?....

lori, erin gets the sleepless side effect too! i know sometimes she is on here begging to be able to fall asleep but the side effects of the pred wont let her. sry to be talking about you erin, but i never got the sleepless effect. maybe cuz i am up late and get up early that i dont notice? anyway let the doc know how you are responding, when do u go back? take care yalinda

redface  my ears were ringin'! LOL. yep, i'm doin' the no sleep thang myself still. STILL!  it's terrible.  but i think it's pain that really keeps me up.  but the pred plays a big part too.  i know what you're feeling. i feel oh so NOT MYSELF!  like "yuck" ya know? really funky, moody...not myself at all, don't even want to look in a mirror. and again, i think it's steroid related.  i mean gosh! i've got about 7 pounds of water retention from them, arms are like sausages, open sores all over my scalp, acne...ick! i even stayed home this weekend when i normally go away with my boyfriend.  i just want no one to look at me, it stinks! so yeah, i'm feeling this prednisone screws with your psyche & hormones & everything.

here's to better days ahead!

So sorry to hear your going through this too It's terrible. I fianlly fell asleep after 25 and a half hours of no sleep for only four hours...but I settle for even that. I called my Rheumy today, he was out of town but one covering for him called and said that I could drop down to twenty mg...I'm so happy. I already feel better. Not so weak. I have these sores in my nose that just wont go away. I don't know what the heck is up with that, but man they hurt. It feels like it's going into my head....OH WHAT NEXT????...lol seems like everyday I have a new symptom to post....So sorry....
