Hi im new at this.

WELCOME TO HEALINGWELL! Despite the circumstances of which we are all here...this is by far, probably the best community for arthritis and autoimmune disease.

The forum here @ arthritis is special...we're a pretty tight group and I am sure you will find immense amounts of support.  And please....FEEL FREE TO RANT AND RAVE as much as you like! Which we all know is needed from time to time....especially about things that "we" understand but friends and family and spouses may not....because we live it.

Okay...I got totally screwed on Enbrel, my HMO said they would cover it...yet I am stuck with a bil of over 10 grand. Oy. Well, 10 grand I have not so they won't get paid till I  A) hit the lottery or  B) get granted SSDI and can pay.

Well, Enbrel failed & rheummy switched to Humira 40mg every 4 days.  I had NO MONEY to spend on this medicine.  PROBLEM!  But, a very special lady here at HW guided me to a reference for assitance to get the Humira @ little to no cost.

I had to leave work due to RA and inability to stand/walk/use my hands etc... and my father oh so politely decided to drop my HMO.  Great eh?

Well, Straydog came to my rescue and guided me to several assistance programs for Humira.

Now....you'll need to gather your tax return, W-2 forms, ID, SS#, and maybe a letter from your doc and also you will be required to fill out a bunch of forms about yourself and finances.

With al of that finished, your consulted from the Humira Assistance Program will process your papers and tell you what you qualify for.

At that time, I had NO INSURANCE, no medicaid, no income...nothing.  And I qualified to recieve Humira at NO COST delivered to my house. It was a true blessing.

I do believe that if you do work & have some sort of insurance yet fall between a income level of which one cannot afford the med....the program can cover a percentage of it.

I urge you to do this.

Your rheummy should know about this, and should have some paperwork even, but if not...the Humira people will mail it to you.

You may find these patient assistat info on www.humira.com and also by calling humira RX # 1877.717.7693  the number may have changed but they will direect you to the correct extension.  i am sure there must be new updated numbers for patient assitance programs posted on the official site...i have not been there in a year.

I am sure if I left anything out, someon ewill be along to add any current info.

Hi,I see that you have all ready gotten some good advise.I'm on Humira and there was a point that I could not afford Humira any longer (got devorced)so my Rheumy told me that she would let me have free of charge.my Rheumy told me that they requiere that all of the people on Humira take there first shot there and she told me that alot of times they can't take Humira so they had two choices and that was either throw it out or give it to people that needed it.I have found that some of my meds that I cannot buy because they are so high I have called the makers of the drugs I'm on and told them that I was in need of these meds but could not afford to buy them and I get them paid for.I hope that this helps.
