 I had a dream last night or early in the morning that I had taken my steroids. I keep my pills in the daily plastics container labled sunday through saturday. Well when I woke up I went to take my pills and the steroids were gone. I really don't know if I had taken them or not but they were gone. This scares the crap out of me. Has anyone ever done this? All my other pills were in there and why would I just take my steroids...yikes..

Please enlighten me.

You are not loosing it,I promise.I have done this my own self and rack my brain trying to remember if I took my meds or not and when I do this I just go ahead and skip that does and wait untill the next dose and that way it get's me back on track.

I do this all of the time...scary isn't it? Don't worry you're not crazy..really :-)   My mind has been so awful at times, I have forgotten where I need to go at times smurf   As for the meds, I usually just wait until the next dose.

I don't think you are loosing it, either. I have problems in the memory department sometimes myself. It really upsets me sometimes. I hope this helps. Please don't feel bad and I am glad you posted about. I think one feels better to know that other have the same problems. Take care and God bless.

tongue  tee hee hee..."SLEEP PILL POPPING"...heck, it beats "sleep eating" & "sleep walking".  at least you're not "sleep shopping".

DANG!  you're pretty good!  that's what i call TALENT. seriously, taking scheduled meds in the unconscious state??? that's really tapping in to your brainpower woman! tongue

well, if it ever happens again you know not to double dose.  it's a good thing you put all of them in daily boxes.

I feel guilty for feeling relieved that I am not the only one because we really can hurt ourselves. I have had too many problems lately with different meds. I am going to make sure these are out of sight out of mind (somehow). I was in the habit of keeping them on my nightstand because I was bedridden for months but now I am not so I am going to put them in the kitchen.

Erin I woke up outside one night not knowing why I was out there but it was very frightning. Luckily my dog was barking at me and woke me up. If I sleep shop I would have a good excuse. Hmmmn! Sounds like an idea...jk

oh my!  you better strap a leash to your leg at night hun! lol. wow...that would scare me to death too.

 

if you don't mind me asking...was it the RA that had you in bed for a long while?

i'm in the same predicament with the RA and very severe mobility problems...and am pretty much kept to bed and couch.

for how long did it go on?

Yes, I keep mine i the kitchen, as well. I heard some where that we should not keep our meds in the bedroom or the bathroom. I am not sure why not the bathroom. I do understand w why you had to keep them in your night stand when you were bedridden. I have also had some really strange dreams myself.

the reason why one is not supposed to keep ANY meds in the bathroom is because the heat & humidity from baths and showers can actually "Spoil" medications. they can change potency, strengths, and the way they are metabolized can change drastically...basically leaving a med useless. that and some meds can melt (in capsules). if you don't have a shower in the bathroom...it's fine to keep them there.

ps...i always keep my meds in my bedroom...can't get to em' any place else.

I see in your signature that you also had alot of things going on . What exactly is Rheumatic Heart and Lung? Does it have something to do with the Rheumatic fever and it causing damage? Well, I don't know what you call it but my whole top torso was inflamed, the ribcage, neck and back, including Pleurisy-11/06, then Pericarditis same time with Vasculitis in one of the main arteries to the heart-12/06, then Myositis on the heart muscle itself...and they tell me I have MVP and a heart murmur-1/07 and supposedly I was born with it...I have never had a doc. tell me that I had a heart murmur before but who knows. And I had a very bad reaction to Zocor for high cholesterol at the same time this was going on. I had to figure that one out for myself. My Rheumy was clueless. But it was about to kill me. They said the med. just intensified my disease and they also said that I was in the progression of my disease.

Therefore I was so weak in the muscles I was unable to walk at all. I was out of breathe. And every move I made my heart just pounded as if I were going to have a heart attack. The thing that trips me out the most is I don't have any joint pain or deformity, (except my neck area, pain is 24/7) My mom did (she passed @ 45) and two sisters do. I have never heard of the RA doing this before. But I am learning everyday new things about this disease..thanks to you all. I am so much better now. I am ridding as many meds as I can. So far I have gotten rid of the Morphine completley. Mobic is out. Robaxin is out. I seen that you had MVP. Were you born with that ? I feel I had damage done somewhere in between the illness and the meds. But I could be wrong..As far as me ending up outside..I laugh my butt off. I am thankful for the sense of humor I am blessed with and for my dog who went out with me and woke me up. I used to work in a mental hospital and came across a patient who was asleep and went into his garage and turned on the chainsaw and was on his way in to see his sleeping wife...imagine that....NOW THAT'S SCAREY

yeah me too...laughter & a sense of humor has been my saving grace.

 

okay...take what happened to you with the inflammation, and that's sorta the same thing that went on with me.

what i have as damage from the RA is pleurel thickening and bronchial thickening (which took a LONG time to rule out ALS! yikes! back & forth from neurologist to pulmonologist...scary) and emphysema.  RA can indeed effect the lungs, some peepes grow nodules.

it was all unflammation and RA related (chronic pleuritis too & costo as leftovers) as the lung problems will ease with the TNFmeds.

 

all of the valves in the heart were damaged from complications of RA, yes rheumatic fever at the beginning. and also strep infections to the heart. mine are scarred & thickened from inflammation.

 

it took years to weed out what was the cause.  given that i was 21...it made it a little easier as they can rule out other heart disease better.

 

but like yourself...i still am EASILY out of breath! like washing a dish will do it. (and in 1999 i was running 10 miles every other day!)

 

medical doctors i think diagnose rheumatic heart & lung diseases by looking at all of the factors & progression of events, age, onset of damage, and ruling out age & congenital related heart defects.  as people age, in their 60 & 70's...they develop inflammatory heart disease without any RA or related diseases, so it can be a hard thing to diagnose if one is ages 40 to 60 i suppose?

These days compared to yesterdays I am so much better. I just hope that this does not reaccur. I wouldn't wish this upon anyone. I am looking into the future with a very positive attiude. If I do get it back again I will just have to deal with it.

That's just terrible all that happened. I guess you have to a very strong person to go through all of that. I wish the best for you too. I don't know that I have any other damage, but I do still have the heart palps that kinda go crazy and the sweating at night, but I can handle that. When I started the enbrel again it scared me because my shoulders felt like they were curving in again and I still feel like my chest is inlfamed, but I am nowhere near where I was so that's a good thing.

I see that you are not feeling to well. I hope things start to look up for you soon. I am truely blessed by finding this forum. It has taught me so much. And it keeps me in line by letting me know that I am not as bad as others.

As always, (like a dear friend of mine always says.. ) this too shall pass.. thank you for your well wishes.. it is appreciated.. Yes, this forum has been a lifesaver in so many ways for me.. I have made some wonderful friends here and have found a support system that I didn't even know existed.. is so nice to talk to people that know what you are going through.. no judgement, no blank stares, only understanding.. it's great.. and like you said, you see that you're not alone and that there are so many out there that are worse off helps me to stay grounded and thankful that's it's not worse.. We're so happy to have you here.. I hope you continue to stick around and keep posting.. be well..
