Apparently my RA is rapidly progressing my hands have now become an issue where they really weren't much of a problem for me before.  My last flare was a doozy.  Had my 6 week recheck after starting enbrel today where they have decided to add Arava and daily prednisone, instead of a taper, so more daily meds.  I guess its fine with me since the medrol dose pack doesn't last but a week for me anymore I just hope that something is going to work.

Anyone out here on the same combo?  Arava 20mg, Methotrexate 25mg, and Enbrel 50mg, plus daily 10mg pred.    Just wondering if there is anything I need to be concerned about or any tips or tricks.

I am so sorry that you are having such a hard time with your RA.God know's I know how you feel.I have crohns,ra,oa,as,and a few other health problems.My arthritis is flaring now and I can't even make a fist with my left hand.

I am not on the same combo as you but partley because there are alot of drugs that I can't take due to my crohns.This is what I'm on.PLAQUENIL,HUMIRA AND METHOTREXATE SHOTS.

I do know that my Rheumey is going to have to either up my dosage or we are going to have to find another way to try and keep my arthritis under some kind of control.

Hey Theresa.. how are you? Did you start the new combo yet? I am not on Arava, but I know there are a few on here that are.. I hope you are doing well.. Duck

Doing pretty good. Did stuff finally. Went to the zoo one day and then to the Museum the next with no after effects. Finally I can move. I know this is from the prednisone right now but I'll take it. Been working still and no pain when I leave. I have my life back. Hopefully the meds will kick in and I can taper off the pred but they are saying that I will likely be on it for the next 3-6 months and the rollercoaster will stop. This new doc in the practice also said that they tell patients to expect a year of pain, ups and downs before the right combination is found. I am nervous about the side effects of this combination but so far so good. My LFT's were very mildly elevated on the last blood work but this one actually came back normal. Hair loss is a bigger possibility with the MTX and Arava combined as well as GI problems, but to tell you the truth I think these meds have fixed my GI issues.

relief even if only temporary is a good thing.. so glad you are feeling a bit better.. I to hope it continues..

I agree with Ducky even temporary gives your body a break from the pain and gives you a chance to rest and be able to think about other things other than thinking about pain all of the time.
