Now I'm stopping Enbrel because of infection

Well three weeks on the Enbrel and I am stopping it until I am better. I now have signs of a secondary infection going to urgent care this moring. I feel like I am getting sicker everyday. I now have yucky white spots in my throat. I thought the Enbrel was starting to help my RA. I was counting on it to get me through a pain free vacation. This is very upseting.

Hang in there Harley  Diva.  I can recall getting some minor infections shortly after starting enbrel as well.  All I ever had to do was miss an injection or two--one injection never made a huge difference in how I felt.  After my body got used to the enbrel, though, I stopped getting those annoying little infections.  Even so, it took quite a while (6 months) for the enbrel to fully kick in and take care of my joints.  It does work though!

Thanks El. I called my rheumy and spoke with him instead of the nurse. He called in antibiotics for me and said I could still stay on the Enbrel and the MTX. The nurse had told me to stop. I'm glad I spoke with him. I started crying last night because I felt like such a loser. The last year has been a roller coaster. My doctor said I will feel better for my motorcycle trip. I feel like I use to be so capable and now I feel frail. I do think the Enbrel is starting to work. I am so grateful for this forum.

Hey Diva, how are you feeling? I know my rheumy has told me that as long as I don't have a fever, I can take the Enbrel.. even with anti-biotics.. I'm glad you got things squared away!

Ducky I am felling better today. I am still coughing and congested but I did go out for an Easter motorcycle ride. It felt so good to get out in the sunshine. I didn't feel well but my spirit needed it. I hope I continue to improve. The antibiotics are helping. I hope the Enbrel works. I am still having some swelling. Do you know how long it takes to work?

Sometimes sunshine and fresh air is the best medicine.. You should be feeling the benefits of the Enbrel soon.. maybe a couple more weeks since you started the antibiotics, but definitely within the next month or so.. hang in there Diva.. :)

Ducky...I got up sick again this morning and had to come home from work! I thought I was getting better. Now I am really afraid to do the Enbrel on Friday. I have now had this respiratory thing for three weeks. If I don't feel better friday I am going to miss the injection and the MTX. I am now on my 5th day of antibiotics. Duck your a blessing..............................

There is a bug going around work. One of the people in another office said they have had a virus for three weeks. I felt better after that and guilty that I felt better hearing about someone elses woe. I have been sick for three weeks maybe I am not abnormal. I have ten days for the antibiotics. I am still going to do the Enbrel on Friday. I don't have a fever. I am getting a new seat for my bike on Friday even if I'm sick I have to ride it to the factory to have the seat made. I'm getting ready for my trip. I hope I don't get sicker. Is that a word sicker?

Ducky...You must of sent me some majic I woke up this morning feeling great. I have some residual gook but I feel like a human instead of a mucousy, slime filled alien blowing coughing monster. I am getting up in the morning and riding to the Corbin Factory to have a custom seat with a backrest made for my bike. It will help with my RA. I sometimes get the lower back pain. I'm getting ready for my trip. I use to go for long trips before the RA. This is the first one in two years. I am soooooo happy that I am feeling better! Thank you for nursing me through. I am still going to finish the antibiotics.

Woo-hoo! That's great news! Oh yes, please do finish off the anti-biotics.. that way hopefully whatever HW crud you got will stay away! Anytime I can help ya feel better, you let me know! :)

I know where you are comeing from I am not on Enbrel but I am on Humira and I whent 10 week's with out being able to take Humira because of an infection.I finally got to take one this past Tuesday and I can tell a differents.I hope that you get to feeling better soon.
