Morning everyone!

Just out of curiosity what do you all think are the chances that i can stop working? Social security disability? I haven't started on any meds yet (first appt. isn't until tuesday). But i am 52 years old, and feel whopped! I am so weak and tired all the time.So far I've been home from work since the 28th of February. Left hand is still in a cast from recent surgery, and will just  be starting physical therapy next week,so i cant really  even use it for a while. My hands hurt,my knees and feet,my neck hurts all the time. I just feel the need to stop working. What do you all think? Are the meds going to change all of this? Joy

Kibbles Hi,

I hate that you are having to go through all of this and I will try to answer your question the best I can.

There are alot that you have to go through in order to obtain disability you are going to need your Doctor or Doctors behind in other word they go to bat for you.

They look at your age they also look at the level of education.They will ask you how this has effected your work and why you feel you know longer can work and they also look to see if may be there is anoth field that you could do (work wise).

They will ask you what meds are you on and how offten you take the meds and tthey will ask for your Doctors name and number.You will be sent some papers to feel out and I would like to say this when you feel your paprer work out make a copy because trust me they will ask the same question some where down the road.

You will be ask you questions like are you able to to dress your self and they will also asked if you can drive.I think that you are getting the picture.My advice would talk to your Doctors about it and see what they say and then go from there.

Well dearie it is a complicated process and you may get better sooner than you think. Find out if you have paid into State Disability. I don't know if you have that but mosts states do. You can look on your check stub for a deduction or ask your employer. This is not workers comp but an insurance that many states require you pay into. What it does is pay you for up to one year if you are disabled or have surgery or a baby etc. You get a percentage of your salary but it is not taxable. So it works out to be close to your pay. You have to be disabled for at least a year or it has to appear to be permanent to qualify for Social Security. If you have exhausted the state disability it looks better. Your doctor would need to cooperate with State Disbility and the forms are sent in by the doctors office in my state. I had four surgeries in one year and was quite disabled. The meds have done a great deal for me. I am currently working full time and even getting in some playtime...................Things do get better. State disability may be an option. Thanks so much you two. I think i am just so frustrated. I just wanted to curl up. I really hope they find the meds to work good for me, and that i can get on with life. I"m just gonna hang in there and see how it goes for now. Again thanks a bunch! Joy
