Staph Infection; I'm Almost 2 Weeks Late for Infusion

I could just scream. I have this stupid staph infection in my nose that won't go away. I've been on Augmentin XR for 10 days (the biggest horse pills I've ever seen). I've endured the lovely side effects of a raging non-stop headache and the worst nausea since being pregnant (even the MTX in the beginning wasn't like this) - known side effects, not reaction so I continued taking them.

Well, I still have it and I missed my infusion a week ago Monday and didn't do my MTX shot this weekend. I was fine until Monday...my SI's are starting to talk, my heels & neck have woken up and I'm a raging "you know what" cuz TOM started last Thursday and won't go away. Today, my doctor prescribed the most expensive anti-bacterial ointment to use -- for another 7 days. ACK!!!!

I'm stuck - I can't take my infusion until this infection goes away, but I'm really starting to notice that my last infusion is wearing off. I've got the heating pad on high, I've taken way more Ibuprofen than I'm supposed to (thanks to the lovely headache) and nothing really is easing this.

Any suggestions to help me get thru this? Pain pills are not an option and it's been a very long time since I've felt this coming on (thank goodness). It's going to be at least 2 more weeks before I can have my infusion...

Oh Curley, that's awful. Nine weeks? I'd be a raving lunatic...LoL.

What is it with staph infections and their inability to clear up in a reasonable amount of time? My husband, who is perfectly healthy had a staph infection (different place) years ago and had to undergo 2 rounds of different antibiotics to clear the infection up. My doctor said this was a perfectly common infection...HA!

What are they doing for you and how are you coping? What a mess, eh?

Starrnr,You are going to laugh when I tell you this but hear it goes.back some years ago I has went to the Doctor and I was told that what I had was a staph infection and he told me to take a uncooked egg crack it open and peel the linig of the egg out and place over the boil and it will draw the boil out.When he told me that I thought he was crazy but as strange as it sounds it does work.This time around I'm on Amoxicillin 500mg I take one by mouth twice aday.I tell you what my joints and gut has been raising h*** with me.
