Calling any one that has had knee surgery.........................

Ok here it goes.I see a Orthopedic Doctor(sorry about spelling)tommorrow and I have Osteoarthritis and we all ready know that my left knee is shot.My left knee is really swollen up big time and it is very painful and we know that I am bone to bone.Now my question is khas any one had the drug Synvise and if so what was the succes rate and did it approve the knee rotaion?i want to try this first if possible before doing knee surgey.I would appriciate any story's and info that any of you have that you can share with me.

Worked well for my bro-in-law's OA. If your Dr thinks it will for you why not try it. Much easier than surgery.

Hi there I had knee surgery a year and a half ago and it has been great. My knee has been as good as new. Some flaares will give me a little stiffness but for the most part it is normal. I did work very hard at rehab. I think that physical therapy and your degree of commitment to it makes the differance in the outcome. I thought PT would never be over and it hurt like hades. I would do it again. My knee is great.

Sorry to hear about the knee...i had knee surgery this past summer do to torn cartlig (sp?)..and now i have alot of scare tisue (sp?) so i need surgery again it sucks cuz i'm only 16. but oh well...

My Mom has had great relief from Synvisc and I've actually just set up an appt for her to get it again. Usually it's given as 3 injections, each a week apart. Mom really needs to eventually have her knees both replaced, but she's not a good candidate for surery right now. We're hoping to buy some more time to get her ready for the surgeries. She's gotten 2 pretty good years out of the last injections and the first time around, it was probably about 4 or 5 years.

I hope this turns out to be a real option for you and that you can get relief without jumping into the OR.

Thank you all for you input on this.I am seeing my Ortho and I am having a MRI on the 18 of this month and then see a surgen on the 23 of this month.I will let you'll know how it goes.

Hi I tried Sinvisc. I don’t have bone on bone yet but my experience was that I got some relief but not enough. Yes it did take all 3 shots. I am no longer in excruciating pain, but I can’t walk (like 100 feet) or stand (20 min) for long. If I do I’m in for pain for the next 24 hrs. I also have only 1 pair of shoes that are “pain free”. This is during the maximum relief phase.

I did a lot of research on this product, and it does seem to help a lot of people – I’m just not one of them. I am not allergic to it but it did increase my knee size by 25 – 30 %. You can tell in pants and “tighter” skirts. So be aware. And if it worked as well as I had been told I wouldn’t really care. But I’m still in pain and now mildly disfigured.

My Dr no longer seems interested in helping me find a better solution. He did his thing and now it’s physical therapy. Now I am searching for a new Dr. I gave it a shot, it’s better than surgery if it works for you.
