Hi everybody,
I have been reading all of your posts for the past couple of weeks, and you've already been a huge help without even knowing it! I was just recently diagnosed with RA, and like all of the "newbies" I'm a bit nervous (ok, more than a bit) and plenty scared. The doctor says this has probably going on for a couple of years, starting in my feet, then in late February, got the flu, which turned into bronchitis, then a flare. My brother has mixed-connective tissue disease, have a 22 year-old son who has had diabetes since age 2, and I also have thryroid problems. So, autoimmune is something I'm a little familiar with. But, it's a different story when it hits YOU.
The doctor has had me on Celebrex 200 mg twice a day, made a huge difference, and is now starting folic aid and methotrexate. I am very, very, nervous about the methotrexate, have done a lot of reading and research, but am willing to try. So, we are starting very slowly, 2 pills last Saturday morning, 4 this week, etc., working up to a total of 6 split into 2 doses.
One of my questions is, I only took 2 methotrexate on Saturday, but I still felt sort of queasy and yucky. Better Sunday, but even yesterday my stomach was pretty off. Not as bad today, but just don't feel quite right. Could this be the methotrexate, even at such a small dose, this long after taking it? Does folic acid mess up your stomach?I take 1g a day.
Last but not least, does this all go away the longer you're on these medications, or do they always have these side effects?
Kind of scared to take 4 pills if 2 feels like this!
Don't know how you all do it, you are an amazing group! I read and re-read your stories, makes me feel so much better
Thank you!
