Boo, thanks for the input on the 'biotics.....I'll have to do some research on all the meds I'm on. I'm having a new theory - you know, I went 13 months w/o getting the least bit sick...I'm on Arava for 2 months now and I've been sick twice, coincidence? Doc said my white cell count was down a little after the 1st month....I wonder.....

I'm a total lightweight myself. 1/2 a glass of wine and my mouth goes numb. tongue

Bear, wow you would be a total smash in the DMV (motor vehicles) in New Jersey! really, you would. try it out sometime in your travels if ever in the Garden State. (no idea why it's called Garden State?...should be termed "The Car Theft State")

but if i were there...i'd wink right back at ya Bear! :-)

 

ok, ok...i do have GOOD news (well, decent)

successful ventures erin made this weekend:

1.  showered, dressed AND went to a wedding friday nite.

1.5  apparantly Joe has his wedding cake picked out???????? eyes yeah...me too,wtf? eyes my thoughts exactly.

2.  was not paralyzed the next day.

3.  Sunday Joe & i went to a street fair where i successfully made it through the length of it.

 

so yeah...that was A LOT of activity.  all of that took a lot of preparation.  lots of steroids before-hand.

tenants ARE GONE! yeah now i can get Nora & her babies in the apartment so my 1,000 felines out back can scram.

what else???? oh...may or may not be going to the hospital. i don't freakin' know. it's Crohns related but i'll be sure to keep someone posted should no one hear from me for a while.  hopefully all can be done outpatient basis.

Here we are in downtown Apsley and t's getting dark after a beautiful day. Erin darling, some things  are lost beautifully in translation and if you ever wnked back at me the pair of us would both get arrested for lewd acts in public - winking is more a spelling mistake than a euphamism!!!!LOL tongue tongue tongue and the allusion to the DMV are losot on this bear - you must remember that I am a close relative to one Winnie the Pooh - very little brain. I am also a non-driver since an accident in 1970 - I never managed to master the multi tasking that is required to drive, you know,, using both arms, both legs brain and eyes all at once. Its a no brainer. smurf

 

It has often puzzled me about the names someone sometime gavve the US states - Alaska the brass monkey state, Hawaii the floating state, Arkansas the cigar users state, Texas the mickey mouse state, you know all the welll meaning stuff buty ou need to look up some of the brit meanings -mickey mouse isn't all it may seem. Or as Wile. E. Coyote said as he got the roadrunner by the throat ' beep beep now you bustard' Well, it is a bird.  yeah

I do hope that you don't ahve to go nto hosptal Erin - your colourful posts will be missed by this bear at the least. I'll get the gong bashers chanting for you - it cannot fail, can it? yeah

 

Camama, I've never got my head arond all the different strains of anti-biotics and the dfferent types of bacteria they treat. I am amazed you can take one type for a throat infection and yet still get a chest iiinfection - my i's are like buses, you never get one when you need one then three arrive at once. Oh well.

Time for nuts berries and hunny before  hit the straw.

sad  moanin' & cryin'

crying for no real bad reason...but Nola-Lee & JuneBug are leaving tomorrow nite, they've found homes. sad i will miss my babies & am pretty upset.  been in tears since 6pm.

i am soooo happy that they will get a loving home from a young guy who is absolutely heartbroken due to his recent death of his cat.

and he wants the TWO! :-)  so they will have each other.

ugh....enough, see! cryin' again!!!

OK...didn't have to go to the hospital yet. yea!  so here's to holding off for another day.

Erin, if you can, let us know if they're checking you in - we don't want to worry! HEY! I'm a rusky as vell! Grandfather is from Byelorussia (sp?) and my grandmother.....not sure, possibly Moscow. I minored in the Russian language as well (not that I remember a lick of it after all these years of illness beyond das vydanya!) Not sure why I can't drink....must be the disease knocking me under the table so fast! tongue

I'm sorry you are so sad about the kitties - but they will have such a good home, it sounds! This is a good thing, trust me!

Bear, it was my throat before, it still is my throat....plus a sinus thing this time around, the cough is probably due to the itchy throat and sinus drainage. I took some mucinex-D yesterday and it helped, today I tried Allegra-d and boy did it make me loopy (but it helped as well)! I was afraid to leave the house today. Luckily, I didn't have to other than dropping off and picking the kids up from school. I think taking care of my son's sinus infection (after I finished my antibiotics) as well as a few other things, probably got me sick again. I tell ya, they need to invent the antibiotic stay with ya bubble! tongue

moain' @ 3:43am... redface freakin' joint pain is brutal AND the belly is starting to hurt.  so i'm waitin'.

hopefully will sleep a bit.

jeesh...it's just too much going on.

Crohns peeps shot out the idea of:

strictures

scar tissue

adhesion

obstruction

 

so pretty much all of which i have already thought of.  thing is...i'm just waiting till it's like, "alright i gotta go NOW" ya know.  i want to go to the hospital when i have som pretty good objective signs and symptoms.

so nope...nottin' yet too too bad.

 

writin' a thread...i need some help, look out for it.

Oh Erin,

I can't tellyou how much I'm thinking of you, praying you'll feel better really soon!!!!  You are such an encouragement to so many here, it breaks my heart to know you are suffering so.

Wish there was something we could all do to help you.....

Bear, and boo, would love to take on those people in the groscery stores for both of you, it never ceases to amazes me how some people can be so incredibly helpful and caring, and others can be such self-centered pain in the ***es. Seems like there is an abudance of one kind, and a shortage of the others some days. 

 Last weekend, we went to the memorial service for my friends husband, it was really really rough....but a beautiful service at the same timeThey had been able to do alot of traveling, but one trip he always wanted to make was to Scotland for a Tatoo at Edinburg.  They never made it, so we arranged for a bagpiper to play at the service, it was SO emotional.  But, I always get choked up when I hear the pipes!! The whole week was kind of tough, trying to help my friend plan the service, deal with all of the company she had coming in from out of town, etc. But she is really blessed to have wonderful family, and a lot of friends to support her.  Don't knowif I could be as strong as she has been through her husbands long, long illness. Amazing lady.

Now it's back to work and reality of 4 little ones needing my attention. Next week get to go and visit my son in Memphis for a short trip...can't wait.  Going to celebrate his 30th birthday (ugh...I'm getting OLD) Hope I'm feeling ok, this was week 5 of mtx, and so far no problems, no huge improvements, but no set-backs either.

Everyone take care and hope you are all feeling better!!  Wish we could all meet you in DC, Bear, that would be fun...but Florida is a bit of a hike, still think we could all meet in the middle somewhere!

i ache all over swam for the first time in years i actually could move myshoulder..... frozen shoulder in the water it was incrediable i thought i was in golden pond! erin u know i have that pool i think u saw it in a few pics i sent .... well i never go in it- crazyi know but since the increase weight i feel like my neighbors might laugh at my pudge so i havent gone..... but i did tonight and i moved friends ..... of course now every joint in my body is yelling at me like i just ran a marathon after swimming for an hour but i think it might be a good thing??????????? can i do more damage to my joints? or is it a good thing like martha stewart says? frozen shoulder is really bad now but was great in the h2o?! pain keeping me up it is 12:34 hey 1234 funny? anyway i should be sleeping as i have a busy work day ahead of me but i am sore so i thought i would touch base with everyone......

anywys thats my story....... swimming swimming in the swimming pool. when days are hot when days are cold in the swimming pool/ i did a back strok side stroke but no fanciy diving ..... lol ok sry guys got carried away in a toon ~my hubby calls it our cement pond! lol for the youngins thats from the beverly hillbillies tee heee later

oy!  terrible to be woken up by nausea & joint pain...ugh...at least i get an early start on my "moanin'"!

 

hey Yalin that is fantastic! yeah you go girl! and would ya' PLEASE STOP! knock it off already...you're a  HOT MAMA!  so no more pudge talk! tongue

yeah that's great you did that.  the water most likely acted as an analgesic for the joints & frozen shoulder while you were in the pool.  {out of the pool is, ouch, a different story of course... you're gonna' ache}.

no way...likelihood of doing damage to your joints by light swimming is slim to none...damage? NO...exhaustion & some strain? yeah likely, but more beneficial than harmful.

this is something you should do every night!...even just floating or soaking would help the shoulder pain.

 

i always am "gung-ho" for stuff like that.  you might have thought "geesh should i really have done all that?"  hell yeah!  one can never know unless he tries right? 

last friday for me...despite a good amount of leg pain & "D" i got on that dance floor at that wedding & shook my groove thang with all my might.  i even "disobeyed" my honey when he said, "Now don't hurt yourself!" nono

{could not move ankles next day but it was worth it}

 

oh...so let me tell all of you!  last night my 2 babies got their homes!  i am so at peace, immediately when i saw this fella' i "knew" he was the right one.

turns out my little Man in Black Johnny Cash went with Nola-Lee instead of JuneBug {June was under the house & i couldn't grab her}.

 

Bear! the young man who took my kittens was British! :-)   GodBless the Brits! :-)

they came to my rescue!

i was so very sad the nite before to part with them...but when i met him & saw how perfect of a match the 3 were together, i just melted.

he had lost his cat, Elton, recently. a huge sense of trust, love & warmth oozed from this guy. i am very happy.

he's a big music fan so he thinks he must to stick with musician inspired names...however i do think Johnny Cash is sticking as a name (they were talking like John each time when speaking to the kitten....so cute).

 

thank you Jody for your care & concern.  you & everyone here has already helped me immensely in sorting things out.  i do have some major steps to make in the following weeks; but i do know in my heart that i will pull through just fine...i always do, it just never seems so at first ya know?

Hey Erin, keep the faith - whatever that is - strange things happen. It has just been reported on tv that a new RA drug under test over here has shown remarkable ability t o arrrest the progression of RA - didn't name t and it won't happen for a coule of years but hey! there's always hope. Sorry about the direct mail it was a pretty dumb thing to do but t was a gut reaction to your plight - it was all I felt that I could do from this distance. I've been standing in the corner with my D hat ever since.
As I've said before, from my perspective reading how so many of you deal stoically with your condition puts my aches and pains into small frame and at least I have surgery as the remedy.
Catwoman, sounds like you got a nice man to take your cats and seems like he's from the other side of the tracks? So many men that I know are cat owners and usually intwos and threes. We got a cat - Wally - sleeps in the road, holds up the traffic, doesn't move gets run over [three times so far and counting] sleeps on his back with his legs in the air and thinks he's a dog. Bautiful nature and lets kids use him as a living fur stole around their necks, never known to bite nor scratch. But you'd rather feed him for a week than a fortnight.
Just watching the morning news on the BBC and the British Medical Council are calling for obese children to be classed as vctims of abuse and/or neglect citing US kids as the way not to go!!!!. Is this an issue over there? I think it is something that will become a hot potato over here in time. It is noticeable that children who do present as obese are more likely to come from the lower end of the economic scale and/or be from single parent families. If all people can afford to eat is high crap in everything food then what options are there. High horse time and rant against the govt time. Sihn on the dotted line.

Yes Bear, the childhood obesity thing is getting a lot of attention here, it's kind of scary. Being in the childcare business, I get a lot of mail about things like that, but it's true. The schools here started weighing kids and alerting the parents to potential problems, which of course had many screaming about "invasion of privacy". Personally I think we need to make education and help available instead of pointing the finger. You are absolutely right, the lower the income, the more unhealthy the food ..just not the way it should be.
Erin, how are you? You have sure been on my heart. Bagapipes, oh the bagpipes...there is something special about them. A few years ago, got to go to Scotland with our youngest' high school band. His school had a rich Scottish heritage, and they had the tradtional band, pipes, dancers, complete with authentic kilts. They toured Scotland and performed differnt places for 12 days...it was awsome, beautiful country!! Plus while we were there found out my maiden name was of Scottish background...made the trip even more special. Hearing the pipes brings back so many memories..

Yalinda...I hope you get to do more swimming, it is good for people like us, well you know what I mean. The joint swelling and pain..etc etc etc. Pudge?? would you stop?? As Erin pointed out you are a hot mama!! That brings to mind, my daughter is in cheer leading, and she once had this cheer but instead put in hot mama, just for me..hahaha! So you had better go back to the pool, and enjoy swimming and not worry about any pudge girl!!

Erin..I hope you are making progress and doing well..and I'm sorry you are missing your kitties :( They sound precious! But I know you sent them to the right homes.

Jody..In Florida they weigh the children??? Oh that is not good:( They are setting children up for low self-esteem, especially if they have weight issues, that is very sad to hear. I'm glad we do not have that in Colorado. My niece who is 15 went in for a check up at her doctors office and the doctor told her she was 5lbs over weight and my niece cried all the way home and wouldn't eat, and now diets regularly. When I read your post that this is happening within the school system I almost fell out of my chair. I hope at the very least it is handled with great care and sensitivity. Children are bullied and ridiculed daily in schools because of their weight, and to have to go to school and get on a scale is horrifying to me. As a parent and a former educator, I just would not be able to support it within our school district.

Hi Mom,
Yes, they do weigh the kids here, then send a note home to the parents in the report cards. My kids aren't in the schools anymore, but my neighbors son (only 1st grade) was told he needed to lose weight, which was then re-einforced by the doctor at his check-up. Not sure if it's handled privately or not at the school level. But, when i was in school, eons ago, they did the same thing for our pe class, our height and weight was taken twice a year, right in front of the whole class. But I certainly agree about the self-esteem issuses, the bullying and stuff that goes on is terrible.
I'm not sure the best way to handle it, but I do believe that people need help and education. Children today have weight-related health issuses more than ever before. Type 2 diabetes used to be an adult disease, weight and life-style related usually, now they are finding it at record levels in kids. That's just one. There has to be a way to help these kids.
Well, looks like we need to build a bigger soapbox!!

moanin all! I feel miserable. My toes hurt,they kept me up last night along with being itchy, stress, and some anger...now I feel worse and am in an awful mood. This cold/whatever has moved in to my chest and my throat is hurting where it tickles and is making me cough terribly. My son woke up congested - ugh....he only has 5 more days of school and a bday party tomorrow....hopefully he makes it thru w/o getting sick. The rashes are still present. I put some cortizone on them as they are so itchy.

I remember growing up, the schools made us get check ups, including getting weighed. It was so embarrassing! I always thought I was fat because my mom was always on a diet (I wasn't then, but am now...and now my mom is really thin)....and they had us stand in line and get weighed. Then they'd say how much we weighed outloud! Not knowing was was an acceptable weight or not, I figured I always had reason to be ashamed.

camama...you sound miserable!! bless your heart. I hope whatever is going on, gets better. That is the thing with these autoimmune issues, we are prone to infections and also take medications that make us more prone to getting sick.

I agree Jody, my children are all school age, and none have weight issues, actually two are underweight for their age, one due to health issues, and he has been teased because of THAT. Our school district serves the most unhealthy lunches, so if they ever started that type of program, I would be amazed!~

I am really careful around my daughter, she has never seen me get on a scale or diet etc, I don't want her to think she needs to do that. I tell her she is beautiful and I try to point out different body types that are not perfect and thin and we talk about them and how they are beautiful. We were at the grocery check out the other day and they had a magazine with some t.v star who weighs 70 or 80 lbs and she said she's TOO thin, whats the matter with her? She needs to eat mom!! So on the way home we had a discussion about that. So no I would not want them putting my little girl on a scale at school, even if she doesn't have a weight issue, it sets young girls up for eating disorders. Imagine a young girl who is over weight and hates going to school as it is...or a boy for that matter.

I agree there needs to be a way, but they are not going about it in a positive way. My middle son needed medications his 5th/6th grade year, and he ended up 15lbs overweight. If they had weighed him, he would have been terribly over weight. But yes we realized it, but it could not be helped at the time. His self-esteem was so low, and he was so embarrassed, and cried because he had to wear bigger pants. If he would have had to go to school and get on a scale he would have been crushed.

no ER for me!!!!!!!!!  yippeeee. at least not tonight, called doc & trying other means to help this bowel thing that's going on.  tomorrow's a different story if it gets worse.

How can anybody miss the food in the uk ? We are a nation of illiterates when it comes to food. A long time ago my first real job in the voluntary sector [not for profit] was running a refugee centre for Vietnamese refugees nearly all ethnic Chinese. they couldn't believe that we boiled vegetables and threw the water away!!!!!!! There was always a bowl of 'soup' on the table to lubricate the rice wit and this was always made with the veg water, whatever it was. we have the plainest food on earth that ith a litttle imagination can be made very tasty but te basics are potatoes with everything.

N ext it will be the warm beer thing which in itself a myth.

What made me laugh out loud when I first went stateside in 87 was the phrase 'drinking bud is like shagging in a punt - it is f....ing close to water'. It reminded me of my FRIEND yally when she first came to the uk and couldn't understand why she got drunk on Bud - te UK bud is 5% by volume - somebody put alcohol in her bud. A BIG BOY DID IT AND RAN AWAY. LOL.

eyes  maybe my English kitten-hero was refering to Indian food? who knows...he wasn't specific.

well...WHEN I WAS IN LONDON, i had the best lox in my life! it was devine.

also had Bubble n' Squeek, enjoyed that as well.

but...i did go to a pub and UGH!  whatever it was that was in that basket had me on the pot for 4 days straight.  fried something.

best part of that trip was my getting mooned by 6 drunkards singing "You are my sunshine..." and then i was pantsed on the last note. 

i also was beaten by a walking cane by an old woman.  i guess the sidewalk was not big enough for 2?

hah...it was great.

i'd rather drink cholera-well-water than drink BUD.

his butt concoction got things "moving along" finally...so no ER for me!

had to stay home though...my hunny stood me up! nah...he just didn't scoop me up.  "in my condition" he felt i should be home should i need to go to the ER. mad

 

but he said he'd come get me sunday :-)

 

the belly pain is still here, the distention has gone down some...so now i'm hoping to sleep {only slept 1 night this week}.

I'm still here.  Just crazy busy.  Had psych appointment in the city this week.  Long drive in the rain, of course.  Felt like that stupid cloud was just running along on top of my car all the way.  And to a Psych appointment!  And wouldn't you know the sun was shinning when I got back to town.  Little down this week.  Didn't want to have to resort to treatment for depression with everything else that's wrong with me but I suppose that's all part of the magic that is ME.

Pool sounds wonderful.  I used to do water aroebics (sp) on a regular basis and it really helps.  We talked about putting in a pool but our well isn't a very good one and I just want to move to a newer house with easier access and more land.  Maybe I can find one with a pool.  Of course hubby would have us living in a junk yard like Sanford and Son.  He seems to be happy with "stuff" in the yard like the hillbillies across the road.  Have to keep on him about that one.  He's got it all cleaned up now and moved the stuff to the corner of the pasture in a shed.  He comes from a family of pack rats.  His sister lives in a new home, very nice.  One room is full, FULL of stuff from probably the '60's that she can't part with.  I told him I'd kill him if he ever did that.  That's what garage sales and Goodwill are for. 

Helping a friend with a wedding today and tonight.  Will probably sleep all day tomorrow.  Good to get back on here and talk to you guys again.

movie revues:  Apocolypto...worth the while! though i do not care much for Mel Gibson, he really knows what he's doing when it comes to film making.

The Painted Veil...i was impressed with that too. nicely done drama. 

Last King of Scotland & LITTLE CHILDREN both outstanding.

in case you're wondering...if it rains in Staten Island, or there's a cloud over Hoboken, or if someone blows a fart across the street...my satellite cable goes out...thank God for dvds.
