Hi Ducks good to see ya in the land of the livin whatever - any invites going for your shindig? Sounds fun. What sort of music will you be playing? How can you have three weeks off and yyet have to go in every day - can't you say you've been abducted by Free Rockall Liberation Movement? It'll take them weeks to realise wherre Rockall is lol. Seriously it can't be much of a break if you aren't really on holiday. Maybe you should be a school warden - think of all those lovely long holidays. How much longer do you have to serve or are you civvy staff?
Boo; how many pairs of shoes do you have? How many feet?
Momto3; any chance of hubby having the kids and you going off somewhere to chill for a few days alone? A change is as good as a rest especially with a rest thrown in. From all that I have read it is muchu easier to take time off work on a whim this side of the pond than over there. I also think we get much longer holidays/leave entitlement - usually three/four weeks minimum plus stuff like paternity leave, compassionate leave and a statutory period of paid sick leave of 6 weeeks I think. Sorry yally. It does make it easier to take a break when you really need it without jeopardising proper holidays with the family. It sounds like you really need the break Mom.
Yally what are lidothingy patches used for? Are they pain killers or like a numbing agent? Not aware that they are available over here.
Erin how are you? You seemed brighter on your last post. What am I to do with all teh collecting tins? lol I was only half joking about the NYT ad. It may not be such a barmy idea as it seems. There's an old Scots saying "if ye dinnae ask ye dinnae get".
I shall endeavour to poost from DC and I hope the flight goes without a hitch.

Oh, Bear!  You're such a cutie pie!  You leave the funniest posts and always give me a smile.  I just love shoes!  What can I say?

Saturday morning, a cup of coffee and no place I have to be for a while, except for checking on my mother-in-law later. 

Feet are better as I have been a good girl and wearing my transformer shoes. 

Cooked outside last night.  Hamburgers are always yummy when cooked on hot coals.  But I did pay for the chocolate cream pie with chocolate chips.  Oh well, ya gotta act like a normal person sometimes.

i keep having this anyoing back pain tomyright side and middle back. dont know if i slept funny or what? hope it tolerates the 8 hr drive to boston tomorrow. probaby wont have comptuter access so i will be back wed. havent even began to pack yet. actually want to go get some comfyu shoes that are stylish if that is possible????? ;gonna take it easy tonight so tata til lata yally

El, I'm so glad to hear you're doing ok and feeling good! Hope you get that other stuff taken care of. Erin, I thought that Fent stuff was pretty strong. Bless your heart, Sweetie.

We do Slug Bug here. I see kids hit each other all over town when I drive by or pull up next to them. My son-in-law makes fun of my car, says he's waiting for all the clowns to start piling out whe I pull up in front of their house.

Folks, I think this plantar fascitis is going to be the end of me. I purchased yet another pair of shoes today, New Balance, which my doc advised me to do. The salesman spent a lot of time on me and knew what he was doing. I did a little shopping in them while waiting for another appointment and thought I'd die. Maybe it's going to take some time to get used to this new orthotic and I know there is inflammation of Biblical proportions. Had to get home and on the ice pack straight away. I'm getting really discouraged and have to go back to work Monday. I had another break down yesterday when I got home from the injection in my heel. Told hubby I wasn't going to kill myself anymore. This is it. Hire more people or something. I need my feet!

I also suffer from plantar fasciitis and its intense almost unbearable pain. A few months ago the injections totally stopped working and I could barely, if at all, walk anywhere without feeling like I was dying. Then I saw another podiatrist who did a gait study and analysis of my feet and made up his version of orthotics and was told to toss out my older ones. It has helped me so much, but I still sometimes get that pain from the plantar fasciitis which doubles in intensity by the fibromyalgia I have around that ankle. Since I have fibro badly, I had to stop all the exercising of my bad foot because exercising only worsened my pain which would last for days. Sometimes exercise is not the answer. I discovered that walking and going into a pool are the best exercises for me.

Thanks, Janet. That's encouraging news to hear. I've wondered about my gait and how it has changed through all this. AND, I was actually talking to my neighbor yesterday about her pool. I think we may put one in next spring.
This is my last day of vacation. But, it's ok. I'm out of $$$$$$$. Time to go back. Have a safe trip, Yally.

just wanted to stop in real quick; wish every one a good week.  i'm not feeling too well & it's awfully hard to type.

joint pain is bad; went 5 nites with zero hours of sleep; the joint pain is a bit out of control and this Duragesic patch hasn't "leveled things off" yet. confused i'm on my 3rd patch!!!!  it says it can take up to 24hours to start to work, but 7 days?!?!?!?!  i dunno' NOTHING happened yet!!!!!!  not even a baseline "steady" pain level you know?  i really thought that by 5 or 6 days the patch would at least make the pain tolerable.

can't take any more pred...5 days no sleep didn't fly with me too well.

plus i think the steroids are making me break out in these nasty sores (my whole right shoulder has about 10 infected painful sores on them sad ) and all in my ears again too. 

 

i am at my hunny's...so i may stay here another day i hope.

 

ok...i'll be reading posts, but not too much typing in return until this passes.

Moanin...

The weekend went pretty well, went to the inlaws and the MTX is holding up well since I didn't need the prednisone, and I have discovered that if I take the Leucovorin 6 hours after the MTX at the suggestion of my pharmacist the fatigue is way better. I managed to enjoy a glass of wine and the hot tub with my mother in law, she is a great lady, and takes care of her elderly parents every day, and still comes home to cook and clean for her husband, and whoever else happens to be at her home, it just amazes me the amount of work she must do everyday and she is in her 50's. Here I am feeling puney!

So my boys are still visiting dad and my oldest son who had long hair called me and told me he cut it off..shaved his head to be exact, I was speechless...I guess down in those parts long hair is not acceptable :( All of his blond hair...GONE!! my 13 year old told me he heard the sound of clippers, and when he went in, brother had half of his hair gone, so he had to help him with the rest...and then asked if he had to do the same? NO! I told him please don't shave his head!!

*Sigh* anyway...Bear you are so sweet, I agree! We will get a break in August..when we load up all three kids plus two dogs in an RV, and go camping for a week :) Now THATS our vacation!! Seriously, it's a lot of fun, and usually the kids are enjoying themselves too much to fight..

Erin..I'm so sorry you are still in pain.

I hope everyone else is hanging in there and doing well.

Here we are from the Holiday Inn on the Hill [not the Hilton, this bear doesn't know his arse from his elbow] in downtown Washington DC and I am fair knackered. Plane 2 hours late and when we get in the bus to take us from the plane to the terminal I'm like 'after you ma'am, etc and ended up at the back of a line so long because alll the nice immigration men had gone home cos there was no overtime and there were three on duty to service the whole freakin plane. Not having slept a wink on the plane I finally went to bed at 1.00 am when my body was telling me it was 6.00 am and desperate for sleep. But I got through todays sessions without actually dropping off although I did rest my eyes frequently and then came the surreal images from a subconscious totally out of control but thankfully the ants stayed away. So here I am in m y room watching the Blues brothers AGAIN - what a film. You should have seen the face on the receptionist when I said 'If anybody rings asking for the Bear - it's me'  He thought I was kidding so come on peeps - give the bear a ring even the middle of the night is likely to catch  me awake. Directory enquiries will find the number. the ear awaits your calls lol.

Sorry to hear you're hurting again erin - haang in there girl there is always the dawn.

Boo, grown any more feet yet to get all them shoes on? From now on I shall refer to you as Imelda.

Elcamino it's totally out of order that your meds a re not working but this bear of very little brain doesn't understand 'erosions'. But what the hell he can's spell misisisiipppiititpi either.

Yally keep plugging away and you shall overcome girl.

Ducky - what a let down it must be as   you were looking forward to your party. What happened? The in-laws get arrested for snake abuse?  Riding on the wrong side of the sidewalk? I hope yoou are feeling etter after the initial disappointment.

I am now off to the deli to get something to eat and a bottle of wine or three and I shall await your calls ahaahaahha.

well my dear friends, dont bother wasting your dollars on a long distance welcome to our dear friend bear because no one knows who he is at the holiday inn on the hill! yep i wanted to be the first to welcome our friend this moanin and offer a good moanin to his day but no one knew of him and i spoke to at least 4 people who thought i was some hooker probably asking in code for "bear".  bear the last person i spoke to i got her name and it was rather rude maria!  i love getting the rude ones names as if would do something about their lack of hospitality.  lol  anyways bear if you want vocal greeting make certain they put bear as a last name search on the computer.... lol  but i must say the hotel you are staying at is very nice indeed.  the rooms look very high tech in design and color i just love the bedding!  wouldnt fit in my house but a nce place to visit!  so i hope those peps are providing you will all the good moanin you need bear and know een though they think you hae a hooker service please enjoy your stay and say hi to maria for me and everyone else i spoke to.

one last choice might be to leave a room number on a post but i am uncertain if that might comprimise safety and identity??????  this is an open view forum to crazys like you!

welll otherwise moanin everyone just back from the greater boston and loved it!!!!!! i am so jelous my daughter is going to have such a wonderful city to live in.  i fell in love with newbury street!  did a ton of walking and had to break out the cane several times but all in all had a great time!

well got back at midnight after a long drive so i am gonna couch potato it with a cup o'joe right now.  lata friends  yally the hooker?

Hi all.  Bear--you're in my neck of the woods.  I'm quite familiar with the hotel you're staying at.  I've had several conferences there, and it is a nice place.  Unfortunately, my office has moved and I'm located quite a distance now from where you're staying.  Hope you get some much needed sleep and enjoy Washington.

Yally the hooker?!  I suppose if I call poor Bear might labeled a pimp?

Hello everybody and greetings from the bar in the Holiday Inn. I had great difficulty to say the least getting the reception staff to accept that to some people I am known as the bear and they should put calls through if asked for - they thought they were on candid camera or something.

The conversation went something like this:

me; "I may get some phone calls while I am here asking for The Bear, can you put them through to me please?"

him; Sorry? your name is Mr. Bear? Not McCarthy?"

me; No, my name is McCarthy but they will be asking for the Bear. I am the bear."

him; "You are a bear sir? Is this Candid Camera?"

me; "No, they don't know my name they only know me as the bear."

him; " If they don''t knkow your name how do they know you are at this hotel?"

me; "I told them."

him; "The bear told them?"

me; " HEY, we're getting somewere."

 

But is appears that yally wasn't taken seriuosly so I am going to have to brush up my Spanish and Philipino and have it out wit the reception staff again - I am sure sure that something gets lost in the translation from my version of English to your version -whatever. I am really enjoying being here. I went out for lunch on Monday and couldn't eat another thing for the rest of the day. Do Americans have three stomachs or something? Where do you put all that food? I asked for a steak and got half a dead cow. If any of you ever get to England you will notice that we chaarge mortgage prices for food samples which ave been boiled to death with any flavour thrown away with the water.

I am soooooo laughing my butt off at Yally calling the hotel for Bear!  This is hysterical.  I can't stop.  Hubby thinks I'm having another meltdown in here.  I love you guys so much for making me laugh.  This is too much.  The elusive Mr. Bear, minding his own business in his room, not knowing of the conversation between Maria and Yally!  Oh My Gosh!

I hope you get connected..........can't stand it anymore.......make it stop......

Thanks again for the outright belly laugh you gave me yesterday! I needed that. One employee took another job and gave me no notice. We were already working with a skeleton crew. Son-in-law has a mass in colon. Colonoscopy Friday. Mother-in-law keeps turning her oxygen off and turning blue. Good news is I have an appointment with a business broker to start selling procedings. I hope I haven't been reduced to walking on nubs before anything happens.

me i am hanging in there.  i think the patches have helped or this last shot?  i am not in agony any more just pain so i can handle that no problem! :-)   i am a bit concerned as to the increase pain in my right shoulder lately but heck this is suppose to be bilateral usually with RA so it is only a matter of time and my right side should be as messed up as my left! yippie something to look forward too! tongue

well i had to pull out the cane in boston in front of my daughters new friends but she handled it rather well and didnt give me that cant you suffer longer with out the cane look so me thinks she is begining t understand it is out of my control.  i am a bit worried about her too as she has increased knee and foot pains and i hope she is not headed down the same path as my mom and i are.  my mom is bad can hardly walk.  she started the mtx after much hesitation.  she is in denial right now that her body has traveled down this same path as i.... i understand her denial and frustration.

i forgot to tell you all my doggy is on prednisone!!!!!  and he is eating up a storm!!!!! he is sleeping by his food bowl no joke waiting for more food, and i have to watch cuz he is a wiener dog and cant get fat or he will hurt his back but he is peeing a storm and eating tons.  i had to phone the vet ad decrease his dosage cuz he was a disposal machine with food and drink.  he is doing much better though finally as he has allergies and has had hives all spring and summer with no relief until the prednisone so Odie has joined the forum and if he could talk would say this stuff is great but i am getting fat from it! lol    Aurf Aurf  hugs from odie, actually he bites strangers lol       Post Edited (yalinda) : 7/26/2007 8:12:25 PM (GMT-6)

Good afternoon all,

Been missing everybody, life really blew up for me the past couple of weeks, feels like I'm getting hit from all sides at once. But, I guess that's just the way life goes sometmes, but not much fun...starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel, praying it continues.

Doing some reading here, catching up on what you all have been up to...will post again later, but wanted to send hugs all around...thinking of all of you!

Herds of wilderbeeste roaming the plain looking for food hear that there was good eatin' just across the valley. But to gete there they had to jump off a cliff and swim across a river. Being the dumb animals they are they all charged over the cliff and then into the water. Those that weren't killed by the fall perished in the river.

Hello one and all from downtown DC I hope it starts raining. Sorry about the bad joke there. My stay is slowly drawing to a close and the conference has just finished and there was much emphasis placed on the caregiving done by grandparents [ grandMOTHERS in the main] and the disadvantage they have compared to foster parents who are supported by the state financially - any of the sisters out there in this position? On the whole an excellent aducative few days and there are many good ideas going back with me across the water.

Glad to hear my and yally's escapades kept Ducky and Boo amused - it could have been embarrasing if it weren't so ludicrous. Thanks for getting through yally a friendly voice was most welcoming.

Mom24 hows the mtx going? I've not come across the use of it this side but I don't really know anybody with RA. Erin told me mtx is in fact a cancer drug with other uses - like a drug used over here for cancer and has been found to arrest Alzheimer's but the powers that be will only licence it for use with people with advanced stage of the condition but not those who will benefit the most - those in the early stages of Alzheimer's. Can somebody please let me know the logic in that? Yet one more example of the weird way in which drug treatment is funded in the UK. But there I go off again. Will report back later when it is cooling down - like midnight.
