Moanin' everyone.. Good to see all of you.. Welcome KickinRA.. good to have you on the forums! I'm doing better.. nothing has changed with my possible discharge.. I am still waiting for word from the hospital as to what's next.. Thanks for all the well wishes and thoughts... they do mean a lot.. for those of you that have emailed me.. I will email you soon, I've been swamped with work and haven't been feeling well... but I promise, I'll write ya soon.. Be well all..

Erin that is really good news.. when do you meet/talk with your attorney again? Hopefully she gets some things done soon! Would be GREAT if you got all that back pay soon by Christmas if possible.. would be a true Christmas present! :) :) :) Hang in there

Ok, I'm convinced, no trials for me.  Thanks, didn't think of the risks, was just thinking of the research, and it's possible benefits.  Our youngest son has certainly been helped by all of the advancements in diabetes treatments over the years, my noble intentions and such. Need to be brought back to earth from time to time. Best of luck with the cooking Boo, would gladly help if I could. You had me laughing, again, about the hubby. Mine is 54 and also thinks that computers and cell phones are some sort of alien inventions. Wants as little as possible to do with either of them.  Don't know how many times I've had to show him  how to use the dvd player, or the surround sound. 

Erin!!  was beyond thrilled to read about the lawyer...pro bono even....how cool it that?  After all you've been through, so glad you finally got someone to treat you decently...there are so many dishonest people out there abusing the system.  It's terrible that when someone genuinely needs help, it has to be such a pain to get it! We should all get this lady's name and send her thank you notes, flowers, hey, I could send her cookies....got a few of them around here. Still, reading about what your life used to be and what it is now...wow..., how do you keep such a good attitude?  You're too young to have had to go through so much.

Sounds like we're going to have a wet, rainy weekend.  They are watching some funky weather systems out there, that could be heading our way.  Hope you all have a nice, restful weekend.

WOW!  you all have been talking up a storm!!!!!!!!!!!  i think it took me half a day just to try and catch up with what is going on out there! hve i been gone again that long???? i got to try and keep up better!

it is field hockey season and everyday after work i go wither to a game or practice and get home around 630-7 cook dinner do a chore or 2 and colapse!  plus the little oneis ALWAYS on line! dang teenagers do there homework on the IM line and i never get on cuz i hear, but i am doing my homework!  so sry guys but i am living with a teenage computerr hog! i only am on now cuz she is at the sabres game! yes hockey is back too - u know bear the game you play with a bat and ball!

oh how rude i almost forgot .... welcome kickin RA  i like that attitude!  if only we could still kick! lol i still can! ....can can lol  ok my sick humor only i get i know but hey someone has to be the warped soul!

Good moanin good moanin, everybody gonna have a moan this moanin. It's the weekend and nothin bad is gonna happen today - today is positive day. I have just switched the radio on and burned straight into Steely Dan Reelin' in the Years and you just can't get no mo' positive than that. whoaaaaaaaa. yeah

Apsley is swinging this morning from the bed in the dining room to the rain soaked garden. The reason today is so good is that yesterday was bad and I did a dumbassed thing. Because I am relatively mobile around the house I got the impression I could stroll around the corner to the paper shop - it would normally take me less than 2 minutes to get there. Well I was determined to get there even though I was going at a veritable crawl and I had my little shoulder bag to put my papers in and 15 minutes later and a few stops to rest my legs.........................yeah get the picture? In all it took me 35 minutes to get there and back and my leg muscles had almost seized up by the time I got back and within an hour I could barely walk and my foot had swollen up as if I had stood on a bloater fish. THE BEAR WAS A DICKHEAD - HOW STUPID COULD I HAVE BEEN? nono

 

I didn't realise just how much lying and sitting around takes it out of the muscle tone i the legs, not to mention the variuos joints that are not  - yet - affected by the arthritis. I thought that I had lost as much muscle as it was possible to lose but that ignores the fact that they are still not being used as much as they were. A salutary lesson in doing what the sawbones say - no going outdoors for the first two/three weeks at home [onlly been home eleven days to yesterday. DOH. eyes

 

OK back to today. Momma bear's family are all decamping to niecy wiecy's new flat in london and leaving the bear behind partly cos  of his stupidity yesterday and also I'm not the best behaved bear where sister in law is concerned - I don't happen to like her. SO. I get to have the cave to myself - so what's unusual about that you ask? well, martin and Bill will come over and bring some beers will apear out of the ether and I will have a second reason to take to my bed. They don't put out health warnings fo nothing you know. "Gov't Health Warning: Friends are Bad For Your Liver".   skull   

3D glasses needed for this para - anything Yally can do the bear can do more idiotically. No no its doing my eyes in already.

Spirit - Fresh Garbage I haven't heard that for yonks, one of you must be familiar with it , a classic. Well it's time to get out of bed and start another day - I do hope that you all - and especially erin today for now she has Perry Mason on her side and he only ever lost one case so there can be only one outcome - have a wonderful day. Erin, Mega wealth in the form of back pay shall be yours and we shall then be seen queueing around the block waiting for handouts. But seriously E it is the best news for months and to have that guy from U2 helping as well, you cannot lose.

been a bit of a couch potato today if truth be told redface hubby comes home soon after a hard day at work and i will say how was your day?  and he then will ask about mine...... me thinks i better come up with something other than i slept.

 

actually i only slept after an hour on ebay searching for a particular purchase and i got a headache and then i became the couch potato before you . tongue

 

so with that said i have no idea what dinner will bring, nor do i have any news to share, so i guess i will bid everyone a good day! tongue   hugs yally

I'm going to join the band wagon on this post and change colors with the change of my thought process.....it is kinda of fun and amusing! Yes....quite fun.

Yes, that light blue is hard on my eyes as well. I'm a whopin' 37. BUT, my eyes have been bothering me for a few days since the weather switch went from heatwave to rain. Foggy eyes now.

I took the last 2 1/2 days off from the house due to exhaustion.....I'm gonna get an earful about that I'm sure......though things are on a surface level much better the last few days, I'm afraid to talk about much knowing that very little will set a particular someone "off" and another fight will begin. It's unsettling.

 

Allright, gonna get the kids to bed here shortly...so, I better call it quits. I'm so exhausted these days, but I guess I gotta try to do a few things around here tonight before I hit the sack. Nite all.

Ok, Dick. Time to take it easy and rest the hip! No more trips, ok?
I cooked 4 hours straight last night. Lasagna, chicken and dumplings, broccoli-cheese-rice casserole, banana pudding, home made cimmamon rolls, tettrazini. Hubby got a sandwich. Ha! Taking the food to daughter's house today. Actually, he's lucky to have not gotten a knuckle sandwich (if I could make a fist. But, there is that can of pepper spray...). Things are tense around here.
Yally, I get to beg off sometimes from sitting in the wind for a soccer game as I'm the granny. I don't know how you ladies with little ones do it. My disease didn't hit critical mass until the kids were in high school.
Been wiping tears away this am. Just got pics from China of a new addition to our family. Brother and SIL are adopting their second little girl. They have one in college, one in HS, a two year old from China at home and now this one and a half year old. They are amazing people. My brother has a form of Muscular Dystrophy (all four of my brothers do). I don't know how they do it. $$$$$$$ helps a lot. I wish they would adopt me.
Ok, time to load up the car and drive an hour and a half to daughter's house. Have a great Sunday! Boo

i wish you would adopt me boo! all that food you made wold last me a good week! i am not a big lasagna fan but if i could order eggplant parm instead we should have a deal! lol
hey my kidos are not that young boo my baby is 15! but i am very involved in my kidos lives sometimes to their dismay! lol cant help it just who i am i think that is why it hurt so much to have my eldest leave and move to boston. i am doing better with that but i think it is because she has been so ill and calling me all the time.
well not much new on this end. my shoulders and pits feel so swollen yesterday i couldnt relax my arms by my sides they kinda stick out! like what is that all about? i was online looking into it all so crazy when you search what you find. my latest blood work showed the usual elevated CRP and ESR, but when you look it up it is one of several RA or CA - just like frozen shoulder RA or CA and of course i always think of my messed up lungs RA or CA. sometimes it is best not to look up what you might have online. i just always wonder if the docs have it right? the two are like twins when it comes to my personal info. but i guess i should be thankful they chose RA and not the C word! oh well got to get moving hugs to all yally

Hello, good evening and welcome to the bed ina cave in downtown Apsley where the bear's odaema is running riot whenever I put my leg int he vertical position which makes sitting in a chair for any length of time a problem never mind the walking. But what the hell as Yossarian would say. It looks and sounds like most of you had an enjoyable weekend - enjoyable being relative of course.

Boo -can I come and live with you please? I seem to be living on sandwiches these days - my choice I am afraid but your cooking sounds like something worth travelling thousands of miles for.

Yally you sound like you are doing penguin impersonations - merk merk - I know I shouldn't laugh but it is the image that came to mind when you described your arms - so long and thanks for all the fish - are you familiar with the Hitch hikers Guide to the Galaxy? You'll know what I mean if so.

Camama - hope your pain and psoriasis thingy sorts itself out - Dr. Bear's remedy for that and all ailments is music as long as you can find the time away from the rest of the cares of the world to listen. I'm listening to so much of my music I never get the time to ordinarily. I currently am listening to the Moody Blues - Every Good Boy Deserves Favour for the first time in maybe thirty years or more, I've found an amazing download site that isn't file sharing. Moody's - hmmm very mellow if trite in places..

Do we have any writers out there in thread land? There was a time when I couldn't aafford music nor the means to play it - when at college - and I wrote when I needed to exorcise demons etc. Ring any bells out there? Or are our writings too personal.

Just a thought - I don't mind resurrecting some of my jottings from all those years ago if someone else can too.

momto4 where are you? There seem to be more MIA/AWOL than scribblers at the moment although I accept not everybody has the tiem on their hands that I have at the moment ie 24 hours a day.

Colour change. We are getting long news reports over here about the happenings in downtown Jena, La. It seems like something from the 60's civil rights campaign all over again or is there an element missing? Over here we have catch all laws that can mean your actions are not against a specific law but you can still be prosecuted for breaking general laws eg behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace. Non-specific but covers a multitude of sins etc

Whoops getting political again - hold your hand out bear while the thread police give you a smack!! That's another big issue here - smacking one's children. Nobody likes it but so many do it. I always swore I would not lay  finger onthe cub no matter what and I've been able to uphold that. I took some terrible beatings from my mother as a child I would not wish it on anybody. Bt you know, in the working class culture I grew up in it was the norm!

Sorry to ramble on - I'll get off my soapbox now and wish you all a pleasant Sunday dinner/tea/supper whatever and I apologise if I went too far - starting to go stir crazy.

Well, it certainly is Monday,

Having panic attacks here and don't know what to do....there was a home invasion less than a mile from our house..3:30am, police helicopters buzzing, dogs barking...very scary.  Two people were shot, one died.  Just can't relax, pacing the house.  We've been in this house for over 20 years, always felt safe here, now what?  This is home to us, raised our kids here, etc., this was just way way too close!  Not that is is ok in any neighborhood, it just feels so different when that neighborhood is your own.

Wow Jody! That IS AWFUL and SCARY! I'd be freaking out as well! Hopefully it was just a one-time freak situation. Like you said, not good in ANY neighborhood, but extra stressful when it's in your own!

Jody, i completely empathize with you toots!  it hits the heart and HARD when a tragedy like that is so "close".  i'm feeling the same way.  last week there was a break in to a little girls room (5y/o)...it was a man, and they didn't catch him. but thursday nite THEY DID!  he attempted FIVE times to get this little girl.  and from where Joe & i live?  we can walk there from our house!  so yeah, it really hits home.  it's disturbing, creepy, unsettling and disrupts the sanctity of a neighborhood.  so Jody, keep a few extra lights on, a few more windows locked...you'll start to heal & so will the town.  takes some time though. :-)  {{hugs}} :-)

 

yeah FINALLY!  was able to have my treatment today thank heavens.  last week was hellish w/ the joints having to wait for the infusion.  JayZ cleared me as "GO" & got my greenlight.  long day, complete exhaustion now.

**oh...FUN NEWS: i may have recruted a new HW member! yeah i met a delightful young woman @ chemo today & i told her about HW and how one can "talk it out with people who really know what she's going through."

Boo, my turkey came out SLAMMIN'! yesterday.  :-)  it was just a 5.5lb bird...but it took me all day to do it {am sloooow} with stuffing [homemade not Stoeffers, lol] turkey gravy & rosemary n' herbed potatos (i roasted them in with the bird so the juices got sucked up). must say...i think i've outdone myself  :-)  ... uh oh! my hunny is expecting the same excellence next time. confused oh no...PRESSURE!!!  funny how something like that is an ALL DAY AFFAIR. took 2 hours for me to chop my celery & onions. mad

*lost 1 more lb. of water from my legs. yea! for all who have the same issues with edema...dangit!  it is so freakin' painful & even more difficult to walk and stand w/ that darned water retention from devil roids'. mad

Yally you OK? i know it's easier said than done, but don't get yourself worked up even begining to think about CA! scool }

*both diseases are catagorized as "fast cell growth" *both share similar labs kinda' (ESR, CRP, SedRate, RF, WBC's, and anemia) this is exactly why cancer meds work for rheumatory arthritis! (our anti-metabolite meds attempt to halt the faulty cell growth) the only suck-arse thing about RA is that YOU CAN'T CUT IT OUT like many cancers...if there was a way to surgically chop off my RA affected areas i certaintly would [U 2 probably huh?]. 

and Bear? Bear just think...each day that passes is one less day you have to go in the recovery process. 1 day closer to being up n' about. hang on in there.  ooh yeah, the Jena6 march is really somthin' else eh? i'm looking forward as to how this will end when it goes to trial.  it's the biggest civil rights demonstration in decades.  i dunno'...no matter what someone's personal feelings are, to hang nooses from an "all whites only tree" is sick.

i'm all for peaceful protests & freedom of speech and all, but doing crap like that...it's plain ol' foolish, stupid & a low-life thing to do.

Wow, hold up...they've adopted a child from China? (I actually have a half-brother in Korea! My "father" [if you can call em' that] fathered a baby boy while fighting in the Vietnam War; he looks like my sperm-donor-my-mother-married) How fantastic! So is the child YOUR grandchild then? That is a beautiful endeavor. It takes a truely beautiful person to adopt.
And all of your brothers have MD?!?!?!?!!?!? WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi babyplace, without wishing to lessen the nature of your fright it is true what everybody is saying and that is just because it happened in your neighbourhood it doesn't mean that it becomes a bad one overnight. It is easy for me to say but you must see this through on the emotional level and then i falls into perspective. There are good people out there Jody - let them in.

ps Yally; February 1985 I had meningitis: I wouldn't wish it on my enemies but ts not for me to call; I wish that I could have had something to help prevent the sickness than went with it and help me eleeep. A very frightening time.

Thanks to you all for your kind words and advice....Bear, I think that some of the best people I know are right here! Little more relaxed now, but still sort of edgy, gives a whole new set of things to think about.  Just have never been afraid in our own home, this was always our "safe place" you know? Then I kept looking at all the little ones who it is my job to keep safe...strange day, hope I won;'t be joining the "insomnia" thread tonight!

Erin, can't even imagine what the family of that little girl went through..personally I think there has to be a special place in ****(don't know if we're allowed to say that) for those that hurt kids. To think that it was so close to you, makes me shudder.  So glad you were able to get your meds today.  I think that I will officially take off my cooking apron and bow to you and Boo...all those meals you two made sound incredible!  But, we need you both share the recipies on the "dinner" thread!!  Would dearly love to make them all.

How's the family, Boo? All that food must have been like a huge hug.  You haven't mentioned your mother-in-law for a bit, how is she doing?  Congratulations on the new niece..have they brought her here already?  Agree with Erin, sure takes a special person to do that, you must be anxious to meet her..do all of your brothers live near you?

CaMama, how are you doing???? Did you get to through to the doctors yet?  Have been really worried about you!

Hi Ducky,

Wish you well.  Read some of your posts.  You seem to be very knowledgeable.  Diagnosed with RA years ago, but show NO Rheumatoid Factor in tests.  Did have symetrical bursitis in hips and shoulders for over a year when first diagnosed.  Has subsided with meds.  Yet, still must go in for cortizone/xylecaine (?not sure how to spell) injections from time to time in my hips and or shoulders,wrists, even while on all these meds (methotrexate, plaquenil, prednisone, etc.)  Thinking of trying humera or enbril as the pain is increasingly more difficult to manage.  Recently took an MRI and doc discovered I have three spurs inside my spine (this is from osteo).  Difficult for people to understand that I am in constant pain.  Know how to put on a good face and keep going.  Yet, getting very discouraged.

Anything you can tell me, about humera or enbril or other info, I would really appreciate.  Thanks.

Yally,  You must be one of the smartest people I know!  Just heard that  yes, the police think that drugs were involved....is it wierd that that makes me almost feel a little better??? Having an explaination of some kind seems to help somehow.
