Insomnia..sleep medications anyone? Help NOTHING HELPS!

I know don't you just love some of the doctors? Get rid of your stress..Ha! I think my old doctor who really knew me would have said we need to get this under control. Oh and as for my RA...I told her the lack of sleep really increases my pain, and I'm a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10, and she says...so you are flaring just a bit???? WHAT??? I just had to shake my head on that one! Now at that point I had decided not to go back to her :)

Yalinda...I do miss venting on the moanin thread, and I think I just have too much going on and it wakes me up, so then I just start thinking about all of it. The doctor is right, but sheesh what can you do? I would go and vent on the moanin board about it, but I really have to be careful what I say/write on here since my husband has in the past read my venting posts and at one time even posed as a poster to get more information about the topic that I was venting on. Anyway I always read the moanin posts always!

Oh and I think it is hippopotomi? (sp?) hahahha! and when you say little people, how little are we talking? because I'm not quite 5"0? :)

Oh and Jody, I would love to find Bears island.. now that would be peaceful :)

Bear? if you read this, the snoring sounds as if we are trapped in a small cave, its so loud!

I am somewhat frustrated... Same is happening to me - it's the third week I cannot sleep normally, only a few (like 2-3) hours in the morning before going to work. It is sooo depressing... i don't know what to do, and it started so unexpectedly. At first I though that it could be related just to many thoughts I have in my mind, but with time my head was emply during the night, and me - wondering around the house like a zombie :( or laying sleepless in my bed.
I am thinking about taking some medicine to finally get a chance to sleep loke alln the normal people.. did some research, and found this: http://www.pillwatch.com/info/restoril-to-restore-healthy-sleep.html - they say this Restoril can help...
Did anyone try it?
I tired some ordinary sleeping pills, but them make me feel bad during the day.
What, do you think, can help in my case? Or maybe I should visit a doctor? :(

Sorry to hear you are having trouble sleeping! I finally started taking Lunesta and it works well, but now that we have switched insurance companies, I went to fill my script and they would only fill half my prescription mad   So I guess I will sleep for part of the month and not the other!  I have not hear of Restoril? I tend to shy away from anything that is an anti-anxiety med but I know some of those also work for sleep.  But yes, if your insomnia is going on several weeks and you have tried the herbal stuff, and the tylenol pm's etc etc by all means, check in with your doc..You should be able to get some rest because that aggravates joint pain sad

Hi Mom, I take two ambien at night and it seems to help me and sometimes I take ambien and elavil. I hope the ambien cr is helping you.

I tried the Ambien but woke up a lot on it and also would say things (strange things) and not be able to remember them the next day idea So needless to say the Ambien didn't work out so well for me,but I'm so happy to hear it works for you..My MIL takes it and it works like a charm for her too! I prefer the Lunesat smilewinkgrin

Yes, it helps however, I can take it at around 9, fall asleep at 11pm and still wake up around 4:30am, so no it doesn't knock me out for 8 hours, but everyone is different, and I have a pretty high tolerence to medications.

Momto3,I was that way when I first started taking ambien it took forever for work. I find if I take ambien on an empty stomach it works better. I hope you start to sleep better because I know what it is like going without sleep . It's awful.

for insomnia I have tried alot of different meds and I have had insomnia since sept of last year.my friend finally mentioned something she takes is Tylenol PM and I wish I had found it earlier. I have also bought a yoga meditation CD and it helps to relax me. My problem is depending what day it is, sometimes I can't get to sleep at all going to bed at 5 or 6 the next morning or the other problem is waking up in the middle of the night about 2 am and then not returning to sleep until 7 or 8 am.

I have no health insurance so it's not like I can go to the DR. for this matter.

Hello. There is a great product called Legatrin PM, I have Osteoarthritis and other body aches that keep me up. I also had trouble finding a pill to help me sleep. My husband found this pill at CVS....not sure if you have that in your area (but most drug stores would carry it). I take one pill and within 30 minutes I am knocked out for a good 8-9 hours. Give this a try but I would suggest talking to a dr first before trying any new pill. Let me know if you try it out.

ok safeway does not carry it....so maybe longs or walgreens? I have visited CVS.com bef4

but never bought anything. What does the price run? I will let you know when I try it. Have you

ever tried Melatonin or  5- HTP for sleeping? They are relaxers to help calm you to fall asleep

easier...as far as finding something that knocks me out - I didn't think there was such a thing!
