White patches on throat - Methotrexate

I am diagnosed with RA and taking Humira, Methotrexate, Predisone, and Folic Acid.  I have been getting white pathes on the back of my throat that look like cottage cheese, mainly on one side.  United Health Care Rep. refered me to a web site that showed possible side affects to Methotrexate.  Anyone have the same problems or reactions to your drugs?  Sorry if I miss spelled words. haha  Thank you for your help!

Have RA and on Methotrexate for 5 years now. Have had ulcer on roof of my mouth once and one inside my cheek once when out of Folic Acid. However, soon as I go back on the Folic Acid, ok.

However, had something like you describe on my tonsils before a tonsilectomy during my mid teens. Get to a doctor and check it out!

I am not on METHOTREXATE now but was on it for about two years and I was lucky as fare as the side effect I had no problems with it.But every one of us are different and we react differently to meds.

It sounds like you have thrush. Humira, MTX, and prednisone all lower ones immunity. Thrush is a problem that occurs often in those with lowered immune status. There are a couple oral meds, one swish and swallow, another a lozenge, and then a pill to cure this. A doctor or your dnetist can prescribe Nystatin for you to try and see if that helps. Diflucan is the name of the pill. Usually, docs will have you try the other meds first.
