How old were you?

Can I ask how old most of you were when diagnosed with sjogren's? I went to the rheumatologist for the first time 2 weeks ago, and will go back this week to see what/if the labs showed.
The Doctor made a comment that I was 'a bit old to present with sjogren's'..............

Thanks for answering! Upper 50's here, so guess the Rheumy's 'age' remark isn't always true!

Mayo Clinic says: Although you can develop Sjogren's syndrome at any age, most people are older than 40 at the time of diagnosis.

Wikipedia says: Average age of onset is after menopause in women, although Sjögren's occurs in all age groups in both women and men.

Other comments include: The average age of diagnosis is late 40s, although Sjögren's Syndrome can occur at any age, even during childhood.

Those stray comments aren't always facts!!!

Many well wishes to you, I was dx with sjogren's 44-45yrs old about, and its a struggle for me my eyes are the most effected, I go thru eye plugs more than anyone else, just had them replug...if your eyes are that dry then maybe look into eye plugs they do help, usually you only need lower lid plugs to help with dry eye but I have lower and upper eye lid plugs, keep us posted as maybe we can help more...

I started a new topic yesterday about my visit and results (didn't quite know where to post otherwise) Think it says something really original like 'rheumotoligist results'....not sure!
Wish blood weighed more.........it would be a great weight loss tool!
