I have RA and have recently had more bloodwork done.... this time it shows that my B12 is really elevated.... does anyone with sjogrens have a problem with elevated b12?  Just curious

Hum. I have secondary Sjogren's (primary illness is Lupus) and have had the opposite...lowered B12! I have been taking a B12 supplement for years.

Hi psbg. That's a new one on me. Like Lynnwood, I take B supplements, but mine is a B vitamin complex. Because Sjogren's can damage the stomach and intestines, absorption of nutrients can be affected. Not absorbing enough B12 is common. Will you google B12 elevation for us and tell us what you find? If it should continue to be elevated then maybe see what your doctor thinks and you can google elevated b-12's like butterflake said, and like the others my b-12's are usually very low...so maybe ask your doctor or google elevated b-12's, How high was your b-12's? Let's hope it's a one time thing and that your b-12's get back into the normal range. maybe google it and then ask your doctor, keep us posted on this as we do care.

What RA medication are you on, your doctor needs to tests your liver could be caused by your RA medication. Keep us posted

Liver profile was fine thanks for letting me know about this. I have googled this and from what I can tell there is nothing to be alarmed about. Also, I have RA so he has taken me off of Cimzia due to it not helping with my RA fatigue has been awful but he put me on prednisone until I can get started on Orencia so hopefully this was a one time elevated ordeal and it will go back to normal on the next test... thanks to all for replying.... hugs...

Thanks for searching this Peggy! I know what it's like to have a heavy duty drug not work. I was on Benlysta for my lupus for two months and stayed in bed almost the whole time. As the docs always say, what works for one doesn't work for another. My rheumy has since increased my Cellcept and put me back on Celebrex for the pain and they're both helping. Hugs to you too! I'm a newcomer to this forum and I know this post is old, but I decided to post anyway.

I have Sjogrens and chronically elevated B12. It is because I have an MTHFR defect. I think the 2 conditions are linked.

The MTHFR defect means that I don't have the enzyme needed to process B vitamins. Please look into this defect! If you have it, you need to take the proper methyl folate B vitamin and not folic acid. Even though B12 is high, the useable form of B12 (methyl B12) is likely deficient.

If your B12 is low perhaps you have pernicious anemia,also an AI disease rtl
