While there are lots of very productive artists and creative types out there who will argue with me, I think that no, it is not a good idea to let your mania get out of hand. Bipolar disorder is an illness and mania is an illness which puts a particular taint on relationships and real responsibilities. It causes us to sometimes fail to live up to our responsibilities -- people can do very hurtful and irresponsible things when they are manic, sometimes. It's not all heightened senses and flowing thoughts. Not only that, but mania is progressive -- it gets worse with time.
I think we all struggle to figure out who we are, what our consciousness really is like, what role we play in making our own reality. I also think you're right that because you are bipolar those questions are heightened, and doubly so by your age. But you're here, your asking the right questions, and I think your sanity is still a whole egg, you're just worried about dropping it.
