Hi Connie
I am new and just wanted to comment on your post. I know that insomnia like what you describe can also be associated with perimenopause or menopause along with many other symptoms such as terrible anxiety. With your age being 52, I wonder if that could be contributing.
I know I went thru a period of a year of terrible insomnia that, now that I look back, I am almost sure was due to perimenopause- I later had a hysterectomy at age 39 (I'm now 44). The med. that finally helped me with the insomnia was zyprexa- I sleep all night now. I know that everyone is different as far as medication though.
Insomnia is really a difficult thing to deal with. I don't think you ever get used to it and it certainly can mess you up mentally. I do think that there is relief with the right medication. Good luck and don't give up looking for help with your insomnia.
