Well, it's been a while since I posted on here. My BP husband's meds have been changed alot in the past few months. He seems leveled out in some ways but 3 past 3 days he has been very irritable and tough to be around. He had 4 beers Sat. and they throw his meds off. Since I am his only support (team) I feel like saying the heck with it but I can't.I love my husband .alto I know he will never be as he was 21 years ago.To make matters worse I had back surgery Jan,24th and am out of work for 5 or 6 months so I am home all the time. I just needed to sit down and write someone ,somewhere.

I'm listening we can vent to each other.. (BIG HUG)

How about near beer,(hardly any alcohol) sneak out get some

Pour it in a tall glasss and presenty it to him..

It might appear to be, you'd be aloving wifegiving him a tall frosty..

just trying to help in some way

Hey, that might be a good ideal. He is doing better today. Why is it so hard to get someone to realize alcohol dosen't mix with bipolar meds? I understand his reasoning is not quite the same as someone who isn't bipolar, but it still boggles my mind when they know what the outcome will be.
He was dignosed 2 years ago and It's has been rough trying to get myself well and dealing with his bipolar. Thanks for the hug and for being a help

Does he drink a lot or was this an occasional thing? Did you let him know you didn't think it was a good idea?

My husband knows exactly how I feel about the alcohol use. It has been some time since he has done this. His doc has told him how it throws everything off we've so hard to accomplish.You've probaly heard the saying I"m a grown man.I can have a beer if I want one.He is doing better but the racing thoughts started again late this evening. I am so wore down from this week,I could scream. He is on some of the high and more powerful meds used  for mood stabilizers and then some others.Thanks for caring .

Absolutely. It might be time for a trip to the pdoc for a meds adjustment as well. 4 beers is a lot, but it shouldn't be lasting days and days. If he's getting manic, it's time for a visit to the doc.

BE patient, someday soon he'll realize, that Alcochol is CONTRUBTING to his decline.
He will need you for support (my first 3 months were the toughest)..
I agree with serafena that he sounds manic..

He has leveled abit now. Last week was the worst we've had in a while.By the end of the week I felt like I was at the end of the rope.Barely haging on. I feel much better this week. His dr. appt is next week and I am going with him as I usually do. I had back surgery in January so I have been limited to what I can do and that has put stress on both of us. I see so much that needs to be done but can't physically do it and he hasn't been to where he gets inspired to do much , but none the less this week is better and for that I am grateful. Thanks for the encouragement. I hope I can encourage others as others have encouraged me on this forum.

 Not so stressed today. :-)
