I briefly have written about this problem on here before, but it's back with a vengeance. Even if no one can help me...I know I can vent here.
I'm on a bunch of psych meds for bipolar depression. I also had some hallucinations. I was in pretty bad shape about a year ago this time. I was suicidal and hospitalized and was down in bed til last August. The meds helped me get back on my feet, get back to college, get my teaching certificate back, and now I am teaching fifth grade! So you can see the meds have helped a lot!
I take lamictal, topamax, geodon, welbutrin, and xanax as needed. (I rarely take the xanax.) Anyway, I am having this bizarre side effect of terribly painful and aching gums. My teeth feel like they might fall out. They throb and ache all the time. My doctor told me he's never heard of this as a side effect of the drugs....to check with my dentist. My dentist said my gums and teeth are perfectly healthy. She said the psych meds are irritating the nerve endings up in my mouth.
This problem is driving me crazy. I have no idea which (or if any) drug is causing this. I tried to lower my Geodon dosage on my own but wound up sobbing after only one day.
I know my doctor thinks I'm crazy, which I am.
Aching, painful, throbbing gums might not seem like a big deal compared to being suicidal but I can tell ya it gets on your nerves! (literally....)
Has anyone heard of this? Any ideas?
