Hi Caren,
We have a meeting w/ my daughters HS on Monday to setup plans for the summer and next year--should be a senior. She also hasn't been able to cope with HS and we're worried about
homeschooling / home tutoring because she is now getting anxiety / panic attacks that are severe when not a home. At home as well but we can manage it better. We also don't want her isolated and we're going to try and two approaches; homeschooling this summer to make up what she hasn't done this year. Maybe a small tutoring service designed to help support specal needs kids that is staffed by professional teachers at a local
location to get her out of the house, meeting with a tacher and keeping a regular schedule.
We're going to try and get her involved in some activities once she is more stable. I'm going to sign up the family for yoga which I think will help her and us all relax and have the advantage of going out. Her Aunt has signed us up for a one night cooking class. It seems like small things but we're trying to keep her involved and be there with her while we try advancing her progress.
Her t-doc will be at the IEP meeting on Monday to help us push the HS to help us get in place a program that will work for her. I don't know how the HS or she will respond.
I know how hard it is and I wish you and your grandaughter all the best. This is a very difficult for BP teens--so much is changing in their lives and the lives of their peers which can create a lot of anxiety and instability.
I'll post a follow-up after our meeting to let you know how our IEP and plans are working. It sounds like the girls might have be in a similar situation with school.

A-beka has an home-based curriculum, it is fully christian integrated. I believe you can order the cd's and pretty much do the lessons on your own. It is pricy.
Just wanted to throw in what may/may not help you find what is best for your granddaughter.

I just googled online highschool and found:
compuhigh dot com
excelhighschool dot com
Wow there's a whole lot, some cost more than others.
Go ahead and google it, minnesota actually has a free one, possibly there's one just right for your granddaughter.
best of luck,
nev
