Bible Study

HI I have Bipolar 1,,,, and I go to a study with other ladies.(8)......... I think I worry that they will see my symtoms. and shy away from me while I am at the study.. we read a chapter in a book and then discuss each week......Max Lucado._ a Love worth giving, is the book=== i know I show my anxiety... just wanted to vent somewhere..... I really want to stay in the study , and I am a widow so get lonely sometimes. so it is good to get out and socialize..........

How does your anxiety manifest itself at these meetings? What are you afraid of doing or saying? I have a hard time believing your symptoms are as obvious as you believe they are.

But, I think Warren's suggestion is a sound one, and you don't have to tell them the "whole story" if you don't want to. You can tell them as much or as little as you like. For example, you could tell them you have an anxiety disorder you're being treated for and you hope they don't take offense if you can't stay the entire time, that you enjoy it very much even if you have to leave early. Chances are one of them has had panic attacks before or knows someone else close to them who has and will be sympathetic, not critical.

I have OCD and it can manifest itself in very embarrassing ways. I tell people up front, then they don't laugh at me or make me feel funny.
