Speaking my mind

I've been depressed for a few weeks now, and over the last few days I've been at my lowest.  I did call my pdoc and he adjusted my Lamictal (increase 25mg) last Wednesday.

Here is what is going through my mind:

My bp is mostly fighting the episodes of depression/mixed states or rapid cycling.  I truly feel that all (or most of them) bp meds out there are geared towards stabilizing mania symptoms.  I just don't see the results when dealing with the depressive side.  I've been on a lot of them too, so it's not like I'm just talking like this b/c I'm depressed and the combo I'm on right now doesn't work.  I am sure more adjustments need to be made.  But as far as trying another med, I've been there.  And when you sit down and read about all these medications how many of them talk about dealing with depressive symptoms or have antidepressant properties in them?

Anyway, feeback is welcome and I hope all of you are taking care of yourselves.

Mi fiance has severe depressive episodes and this last one landed him in the hospital. He's had excellent treatment for a while now, but our pdoc has told us time and again that bipolar depression is the hardest to treat. His current cocktail consists of lithium, lamictal (we love lamictal), and lexapro (an activator, so to speak). This has worked wonders for him. I know that when he was his most depressed, he would have welcomed his mania back with open arms.

Please just try to be patient, it will get better. It will. I"m sorry you're feeling like this now b/c I know it is physically and mentally incapaciting.
