Lorraine-NL,
There is nothing worse than not being able to sleep! I am a manic expert. I have such high anxiety that I am on Xanax and since recently being put on mood stabilizer #9 (I think), I have been sleeping well. When I could not sleep, I would take a warm bath, lights out, only a candle burning, add some epsom salt to my bath and soak for a long time. This usually would relax my body enough to go to sleep. Watching TV never worked for me because my body reacts to stimuli with such intensity that it just made me more fully awake. I have been on ambien in the past but not with any other med at the time and it worked pretty well. Before I would accept the fact that I was Bipolar and would not take meds, it would not be unusal for me to be mopping the kitchen floor at 4:00 a.m. But after you live like that for so long, then you usually crash and burn from exhaustion. You can probably get away with that when your are 20, but when you are a "woman of a certain age" you do not bounce back. I would tell your PDoc because I am always at my worse when I do not get enough sleep.
I hope you sleep well tonight. I hope we all do.
