Hi,

Well, after a year on various meds my psycopharmacologist highly recommends eletroshock. Has anyone had this and did it help? This is scary.

Hi Sharann,

I've never had electroshock, but a good friend of mine did. It did help her quite a bit for a while. It didn't last forever and she had to have the treatment again. But it did help.

That's how I would have proceeded too -- a whole lot of research. I hope you feel better. Do you have another plan of action in mind?

My partner gets ECT and it's amazing! It was really scary at first. We also did the research and it scared the hell out of us. But, the alternative was...continued severe depression? suicide? She was drastically improved after the first one. She went through a series of treatments and now gets them every 2 to 3 weeks. The side effects are minimal. She usually has a headache for a day and her short term memory isn't the best but it never was so no major change there. I know it won't be for everyone but it is definitely not what we all picture from movies. If you trust your doctors, think about it again.
