Hi everyone,
I usually post on the UC board, and decided to introduce myself here because my fiance was diagnosed with BP right around the time we met (aout 6 months ago), and started taking meds right about then too. He has a psychiatrict that he thinks is a genius (financially maybe), I'm not a fan. The guy schedules 15 minute intervals of patients, and they're in and out with their new script s. My fiance was just happy to know wat was wrong with him.
I am wondering if he even got the right diagnosis. He was SEVERELY abused as a child (which you can't get into during a whopping 15 minutes), he goes through panic attacks and depression, although most of the time he's OK. He definitely has some serious anger issues (not towards me, I'm safe, he's generally an angry guy though). I think he needs talk therapy and he agrees, especailly because he had a serious episode last night with repressed memories, etc.
The psychiatrist has been slowly increasing his meds (he's now on Lamictal 150/day and clonopin, .5 mg about 3x a day), but I would think that that would make his moods more stable but he seems to still have them. Does anyone think he should be on something else? Unfortuanely I don't know what type of BP he has, and I don't think the doctor ever told him.
