I'll be in a good mood for three to five days, feeling almost powerful, sexy, happy, caring..
and one thing weird i've noticed is during these times i CANT cry even if something sadish happens..
then I "crash" and start bawling and feel down or even suicidal and want to sleep too much...
for a day or so.. .during this time i can feel sad feelings enough to cry...
then back up again~
i guess i should be glad it does go back up, since i'd been depressed for most of winter.... i shouldnt be complaining.. but yikes this is crazy!!
I'd heard that short-term mood swings come from PTSD so I was wondering what your take was...

I have both. :) That sounds more like rapid cycling. My PTSD stuff shows up like... I see someone who looks like someone and then I can't go to the same place again.

Ok thanks for sharing your input. Should I tell my pdoc about
it?
My PTSD looks like that sometimes and also panic attacks from triggers...but it does swing my mood way down to be triggered... but never Up .. good point!

That really sounds like the rapid cycling to me over PTSD. And yes i would talk to my doctor about
it.

That sounds a lot like me. I am diagnosed rapid cycling, but I have had my fair share of trauma that I have not brought up to doc yet, so I may have ptsd too. Guess that doesn't really help!

That sounds like me and I definitely can't have PTSD. So yeah I'd agree, it sounds more like rapid cycling.

Whoa thats a lot!! Thanks Bohemian :)
I guess it is rapid cycling then and not PTSD or Borderline personality...
of course, it Could be but i'm not having any problems with rage, or personal relationships... and i don't alternate between views of others..
so i 'm gonna go back to Rapid Cycling.
Some of those are right on.
Like the overconfidence alternating with a lack of self confidence... exactly..
alternating between optimism and negativism...
alternating between fun activities and guilt about
having fun...
Those all sound right on~
gosh!!!

Be careful. The longer you go without treatment, the worse - and faster - rapid cycling gets.
I used to cycle every 9 months... then 6... then 3... now it is down to 2 days, and it gets worse without treatment down to 3 hours.
