what side effects have you experienced on Zyprexa or Geodon? Is Geodon effective?

Thank you for the advice. I have gained 7 1/2 pounds on Zyprexa and debating whether to go off. It's a really good drug, but it has made me chubby.

I take zyprexa.. at first  I was feeling too drugged . but now after a few years I dont feel that way now.. zyprexa works. for me

I take Geodon and the only side effect I have is sexual dysfunction.  I did not gain any weight at all.  I refused to get on any med that makes me gain wt.  I am manic right now and lost 30 pounds in three months.  Maybe ask your doctor to try you on that med it may help unless you get better results from the Zyprexa.

I took Geodon for a very short time. It made my head feel really strange, I couldn't explain it. My pdoc told me to stop taking it.

Gained 50 lbs with Zyprexa. Google Zyprexa class action law suit regarding the severe weight gain. The huge weight gain has caused some people to have diabetes.

Sorry to be so blunt, but I'm expressing my disgust with this drug.

I take 120mg at night, but you must eat with it so that it will absorb.  It makes me sleep really well.

Ellen, What is pancolitis and are you still on prednisone.  I have Crohn's disease and when I am on prednisone my mind is all over the place.  Maybe Geodon would work good for you.

I was on Geodon only for a short while, it did wonders for my moods but I had bad side effects from it.

I am currently on Zyprexa and have been on it for over a year now. It helps a great deal with my irritability, but the downside is that it made me gain ome weight.

From my experience, all medicines have side effects its just that some are just annoying and go away with time. One thing I can tell you is that everyone reacts differently to medication. So you should talk to your pdoc Zyprexa, Geodon or any antipsychotics out there and find out what your options are.

My doc wants me off zyprexa if I gain weight. The issue is how much. I feel like I've run out of alternatives. Going off Zyprexa scares me because the anxiety over my disease (ulcerative colitis) breaks through, particularly when I switched to Geodon. I stopped Geodon and went back to Zyprexa. It's a constant anxiety which Zyprexa seems to dissipate.

Geodon is extremely sedating. Had the anxiety not broken through on low doses of Geodon, I can't imagine the side effects at higher doses, Iwould have stayed on geodon.
