This is so cool!  I can across it in another totally unrelated forum.  This WILL END hypomanic spending - especially for you BPII and rapid-cyclers.

A spending FREEZE.

No joke.  I just wrapped up my debit/credit cards in a ziploc bag, put them in a jar of water and into the freezer.

If I want to spend, I will have to wait until that thing thaws out.  See if that purchase is so important then!

I know I busted out laughing in disbelief when I saw someon that said they did it. I had to do it right away! I did all my personal cards. I have a credit card from my fiance that is for gas, groceris and emergencies. I WILL NOT abuse that card, so it is "safe" for me to have.

O.M.G. When my fiance finds that in the freezer. LOLOL

CAN NOT WAIT! It will be priceless.

I heard of this idea many years ago and my pdoc even suggested it as well when I had my last spending of $1500 almost a year ago. He suggested something that works better for me. He told me to give my credit card to my bf and he could be the only person to hold on to it. If I needed it for something I ask him; and he doesn't keep it in his wallet, it is somewhere else (he is the only one who knows where it is).

 

The freezing thing is good, but for me it's better not to know where it is at all. Out of sight out of mind.

I like that Mogs. :) I'm not that bad yet. I actually don't have my own credit card for good reason!

The credit card my fiance pays the bill for it like that mentally. If he would not be happy about the purchase, I won't buy it. He's stingy and frugal, so it keeps me in check.

If I get worse, it's definitely an option to consider.
