Well I saw the pdoc again today.

This time he added Wellbutrin to the mix. He seems like he is not sure what's up with me. That's not a complaint, I can't expect him to when I don't.

Hopefully, I get some positive affects from this one.

Hope that Wellbutrin will be a positive addition.  A lot of people swear by it.

Hi Tim,

So sorry you've been struggling with meds. I can relate. It took me 5 years just to find a combo that works "most of the time" for me. I feel like I'm treatment resistant sometimes.

Wellbutrin is a good med; experiencing a lot of depression?

I am thinking of you and hope very much that this works for you. Positive thinking!!!!

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. Yes been depressed for quite some time now and hope every time they add something I will feel better. We shall see I guess.

Honestly, I have been a mess. I am hyper, agitated, angry, you name it. I can't sit still and have racing thoughts. I don't know that it is the wellbutrin because I had 3 days last week
where I felt like this which was before I started taking it. I had 3 days of hyper negative then 3 days of low depression, now I am on day 2 of hyper negative again. Not fun.

I think it is all the anti-depressants I am on. The doc won't treat me for bipolar because I don't get super happy. Things are going to have to change soon or I'm going to have to find a new doc.

I called the doc but he is off today so I have to wait till tomorrow to see what he thinks.

Thanks for asking though and I hope your doing a lot better than I have been.

My pdoc was 100 percent from the start clear that bc I am bipolar he will not treat me with antidepressants. They cause cycling and highs.

For the longest time I was so upset with him about this. So much so, I convinced him to let me try some on two separate occaisons and each time, my rapid cyling got worse; I was a mess and I experienced manias and hypomanias.

While it's tough to fight the depression without antidepressants, I know they are not what is going to help me be stable. It took a long time, but I kind of have the right balance of meds.

Talk to your pdoc if you are concerned about the antidepressants. There are a lot of bp's out there who do take them. From what my pdoc feels and what I've experienced and from what I have read, they could potentially be a problem for successful treatment in people? But some people are fine with them? It's confusing to say the least. Do some research, talk to your doc and I hope that you are mood charting bigtime through this.

So sorry you are going through this. I know how hard it is. It's frustrating and exhausting.

The main problem is that he hasn't diagnosed me as bipolar for the simple fact that I do not get super happy. He said Mood Disorder NOS. I get hypo but that equals irritability to the extreme for me. Now that I am on more anti-depressants I am rapid cycling on average switching every 3 days. Sometimes less. I would much rather be staple and depressed than erratic and hostile at random. 2 times my wife was afraid to leave the kids home with me and the other night she suggested going to the hospital.

I called the doc and left a message but the receptionist called me back saying he wasn't in today but she will forward the message to him tomorrow. I don't know what he is going to come up with this time.

I don't know if he can just try treating me for bipolar and see if it works in order to convince him that it is the case. I don't want to diagnose myself but I live in my head and I know that I am. He just keeps telling me it is either major depression or bipolar but leans towards depression because i don't get super happy. I don't know what to do. It seems to be getting worse instead of better. With my luck he'll make an appointment to come in and I will be back to depressed that day.

Anyway, sorry for the rant and thank you for your interest in my situation.

I wonder what they would give you at the hospital? Sedative I guess. Maybe you would find a new doc that way. Maybe not admit you, just calm you down. Maybe admit you. How far is the hospital?

The hospital is around 30 miles or so. I'm not sure what they would do for me but I don't see me going unless it is a true out of control emergency. Being locked up would drive me over the edge. I am doing ok atm. I calmed down again and have been low the last 2 days which is fine. If it happens again, I will get a hold of the doc. Otherwise, we are going to have a chat at my next appointment on the 22nd about changing the treatment.

Yes, time to pressure the doc. Just for kicks, ask HIM what they do for you when you are out of control. Tim, they don't lock you up in the hosp. They protect you from suicide or hurting others if you are violent, which you aren't. I'm not advocating hospitalization, just wonder if you presented at the ER if they could give you something to knock it out of you over night.
