Light Therapy

Hey gang,

I posted this question on the depression board, but I thought I would post it here as well. My boss bought me a mood light for Christmas. I was really touched. I have used it a bit, but as of yet I have not noticed a lift from my depression.

The depression of course is really heavy today because it is my first day back at work since I was off for 5 days over Christmas. There aren't many people here at work and I don't really have much to do, so needless to say, my mood is getting even worse as each hour passes. The light is staying at home because it is rather large (and was expensive!) so I will sit in front of it when I get home.

Have any of you used a mood light for therapy? Let me know if you found it to work for you.

wow nevermind.. just looked it up, got my answers. gosh theyre expensive!

I have a couple friends who have put those pricey ($5 a bulb) natural light full-spectrum lightbulbs in places where they spend a lot of time, ie reading lamps, bathroom, over the kitchen sink. One started it because of her daughter's health problems and she says she has noticably less seizures now. I have been thinking about it because of our l-o-n-g, gloomy Montana winters.

I was like all of you, wondering about light therapy and wanting to try it out. Yes the lights can be expensive, but if worth it....then it may be important to save for one?

The light is a very bright white light. It is similar to the tanning lights, but I would say slightly less bright?

I really should get back into tanning...I think it helps.

I didn't get to use my light last night because we had a busy night after work -- out for dinner with partner's family....Tonight we have people coming over as well....sigh.

It's definitely tough here at work. I am so depressed. I've made a to do list for my items I need to do here at work. I am going to start at the top and work my way down, taking as many breaks as I need. I am only going to do the most important things and work on the rest as I feel better (fingers crossed?). Ugh I hate feeling this way, it is just crippling :(
