I just had my medication changed to Wellbutrin and Abilify.
I had been taking Cymbalta and Lamictal, but have a rash and had to stop.

I started on generic wellbutrin SR at 150 mgs per day then a week later to 150 twice a day. Now I take a single 300 dose of generic Wellbutrin XL. With that i take a 2 mg tablet of Abilify. Been on the generic Wellbutrin for 5 weeks and the Abilify for 4 weeks.

My depression has lifted and no more negative thoughts, good energy level. No more feeling like a zombie like I did on Symbyax. So far so good.
However I have been experiencing anxiety and at times extreme agitation. I take a Xanax to calm the anxiety down.
My problem is I don't know if it is the Wellbutrin XL or the Abilify that is causing the intense agitation problem.

I had read somewhere that the generic forms of Wellbutrin cause bad side effects due to the release rate and the fillers they use.

Has anyone here used this combo of meds before? If so what was your experience?

I'm on this combination. Just added Abilify so I'm sure the anxiety I'm feeling is coming from that med. I take Vistaril to manage, but most of the time I try to just deal with it.

on lithium and abilify. 900mg lithium 10mg abilify. abilify needs increasing. jamie. hoping you feel better soon, jamie.

The update is that things are a little better now that some time has gone by. The extreme agitation that I was experiencing has eased up. Yet I am a long way from where I want to be. I have not checked it, but I would be willing to bet that my BP has gone up significantly. Before I give up on Wellbutrin I am going to ask the doc for some samples of the name brand Wellbutrin and see if it is better than the generic.

the agitation and anxiety could be either medication but it's probably the Wellbutrin XL because that raises levels of norepinephrine which is a stimulant neurotransmitter. this anxiety may go away after time on the med. and if Xanax is all you need to staighten it out i ssay good.

i forgot to mention in Wellbutrin's literature the manufactuer recommends using a ambien type or benzo type med. in the first couple weeks of use due to the same side-effect you described.
