DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY FOR BIPOLAR DISORDER

Hi All with Bipolar,

Jamie and I have discussed having "themed chats" around using DBT to help manage bipolar.

I have ordered this book:

I should have it in the next 2-4 weeks as an Aussie.

"Hello, I am very excited to hear what your trying to put together." I am very interested. I purchased the book quite awhile ago. I'm actually starting a DBT Program for 6-12 months in the next week or two. My Psych Dr. sent my records to them and we've set up my Intake Appt.

Given that you have the book, we can start whenever you are ready.

Jamie and I should be able to help explain concepts to you and we could also learn some new stuff along the way.

DBT stands for DIALECTICAL behaviourAL THERAPY.

It is evidenced as effective for borderline personality disorder and now there is increasing evidence that is effective in treating other mental illnesses including bipolar.

It involves mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness.

I have borderline and bipolar and did the year long course two years ago. (I was not diagnosed as bipolar at the time - it was a bpd only dbt course). I'm curious to see it presented in a slightly altered and revised way for bipolar. :)
