Hi jamiee,
Lamotrogine knocks out depression. I hope it helps you! You'll be started at a very low dose and have your dose increased slowly to avoid the risk of a serious rask. You probably will not feel any affect for several weeks and should talk to your Dr. about
something to take short-term until the Lamictal is working.
(I learned this the hard way and ended up in the hospital while waiting for it to work.)
I think the most common side effect is dizziness - especially during dose changes. When I started on it, I would have pre-syncope (almost fainting) when standing up. It went away completely.
You can find more information at drugs.com.

This is the med I have been on for many years. It is a mood stabilizer with anti-depressant qualities. (I have an anti-depressant booster I take with it as well)
I've never had any problems at all with it. No side effects whatsoever. After trying literally dozens of meds and med combos, finding this one was a relief! Just take it slow, look for a rash and if you get one call your Dr.

I take lamotrigine in the AM and (seroquel) at night. Together they stopped bi-polar symptoms dead in their tracks. I started taking them three years ago. After 30 years of misery I finally understood what happiness felt like.
