Lamictal and weight loss?

Hello all! I'm currently on 10mg of Abilify and 25mg of Zoloft daily. I've been on the Abilify since October 2011. Not quite sure when I started the Zoloft, though. But the problem is, I've gained SO MUCH weight since being on the Abilify!!! I've gained 20 pounds in the past 5 months alone!

Because of this, my doctor is going to switch me to Lamictal a week from tomorrow. I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience losing weight while being on Lamictal? I am also watching my calories and exercising daily, but just wondered if Lamictal "helped" anyone lose weight as well.

I've stopped many medications because of weight gain. Have been on lamictal for years and I don't have that problem with it.

Lamictal has not affected my weight, up or down.

I am taking Lamictal and never gained a pound, in fact I think I lost wt. I made sure it would not make me gain wt, and the doctor was right it didn't make me gain. I have bp, an eating disorder, so this was a good med for me. Good luck.

Hey there,

I have been on Lamictal for years, various doses from 100-400 mg. No weight gain.

In the past year I started a new diet and exercising and have lost 52 lbs so I don't think you need to worry about it :)
