I have designed bits of paper that go into a glass jar.
I write down what things bring me joy as they happen and what kind of joy they brought me.
For example I have:
14/1/14 I enjoyed seeing the Book Thief at the movies. I felt entertained and distracted. I was interested in the story of WWII from a German perspective. I was proud of treating myself. I was pleased to be well enough to get out.
17/1/14 I enjoyed meeting N & S. I felt safe with them and liked hearing about
their life stories. I am looking forward to receiving support from them.
I used to have a book where I used to write it all down but I like this system better. It's quaint and random when I decide to reread the joy have experienced :).
I have my "joy jar" next to me at the computer. Being clear glass helps me to catch some words and remember moments of joy.
I'll share another random one to get the thread moving:
1/1/14 I have enjoyed mental clarity today because I like feeling healthy.
Remember to explain WHY the experience brought joy because it helps us to connect with what we value.
