Hi Jcloud,
Welcome to the forum
I'm glad you joined us.
It is nice that you have been supportive to your partner. I know it can be tough at times.
It sounds like she is on the right track with seeing a Psychiatrist and taking meds. The both will help. They work together but they will take some time to work. Sometimes the meds may need adjusting as well. With Bipolar, moods will vary. There will be good times and bad times. Sometimes, everyday things can be overwhelming to people with bipolar disorder. Doing little things can mean a lot to your partner.
It’s good that you are in therapy as well. You are on the right track as well by doing research and learning about
the disorder. There are books you can read as well on how to help Bipolar partners and how to cope as well.
I understand that you may feel overwhelmed at time. Supporting your partner can be one of the key to her recovery but you can't take care of her every second of the day. If possible, you can ask other friend or family members to stick around when you feel overwhelmed and you need a break.
You also have to remember take care of yourself as well. Sometimes, we take care of other people but we forget ourselves.
Continue to support your partner as she will need the support with what's she going through. However, remember to take a break if you need to and take care of yourself as well. I hope things will get better for you both.
Please note that you can free to post here when you feel overwhelmed or anytime you like.
Take Care
