sister is a mess/has classic symptoms

 hello,

    I am bi polar.. but i'm not writing at the moment for  myself. My older sister has all the classic symptoms. She is now going through a divorce. She has been in a certain religion that denies people the right to any real help>> dr's, medications..etc.. all very frustrating.

    She is far from me. So I only get to talk to her on the phone.

     Does anyone have any words or advise to help me convince her that she  desperatly  needs "real" help>> I say to her."God does work through doctors."

      Her oldest daughter was dx'd with bp also last  year. started lamical.. and is doing wonderful! She is on her own ..23 now and is taking charge of her life.

      My sister is so scattered/random>> manic<duh

 that trying to get her to listen is getting harder. I do feel she is a threat to her own life. talking far to much about suicide. Her  husband won't listen.<<she says

       She says she wants help.. and then does nothing.

It sounds like I may be able to relate to your situation from your sisters eyes a bit. I am a very strong Christian (Apostolic) and I do believe that God can heal people right out without any medicine or doctors on his own. I was healed totally of diabetes! Anyway...I was diagnosed Bipolar a month ago. There have been people telling me that God can heal me. My religion does not discourage doctors. I believe that God can use doctors and medicine as a way to help us. I feel like that is how God has healed me from being Bipolar. Iam stil bipolar and still suffer symptoms....but nothing compared to what I did. I am on lamictal as well! From what I have read it is very rare that someone who is bipolar is put on the right meds on the first time and the first adjustment...some people it takes years. The doctor got it right for me on the first try and I am feeling alot better. I honestly believe that is God's way of helping me! Maybe it will help your sister if you tell her my story and how God can use doctors and meds. Whatever you decide, hang in there and be there for her. Does she recognize that she is bipolar? Does she think she needs help? That will be a very important part of getting her help...admitting it. I wish you luck and keep us posted. I am glad that Lamictal is working for your niece...it is great!
