Does anybody work or study? I was just wondering if you've noticed you cant deal with stressful situations. I have a university/college report to do for wednesday so like i always do,i've left it till the last minute. Everytime i try to write it i feel majorly depressed and anxious, I was having suicidal thoughts, with no intention of commiting suicide earlier. I cannot deal with everyday life outside of my internal world. The things that mangify my depression are deffinetly always stress related,any glimpse of stress and the depression is usually triggered and once in a depressed state the usual escape route is one that makes me feel so manic. I'll give you an example. Try to do report. Cant concentrate or do it. Lay in bed for days because i failed at something which i used to be able to do. Come to the conclusion that it's only life and i'll die,it's only college/uni. Decide to just go out get drunk and be social. End up hypomanic. Realise i've accomplished nothing. End up depressed. But even with insight into what goes on,i cannot seem to reverse the process. I can look back and realise what's happening, but when i'm in one of those moods,my whole persona is different. I don't mean to get so personal,i'll leave it at that.

He** yeah , I can totally relate to that one!

Instead of turning myself inside out trying to do things I leave them , go do something relaxing...have a bath or whatever then come back to it......this obviously takes a bit of planning rather than leaving it til the last minute then getting totally stressed because you know you have to do it tonight even though you can't do it. Plan to do some as soon as you get it home so you can start to assess how much time your going to need to spend on it and how difficult it's going to be to get your head around - that way you will be able to give yourself time to do it in (planning in some aaaaaarrrrrrggggg!!!! I can't do this , time).

Have you talked to an on site doc/nurse/counsellor about how difficult you find your coursework sometimes , they might be able to arrange something for you.

Do you have any therapy , counselling - I know your against meds but therapy can help.

That's what i do too,go for a bath or watch an episode of south park or anything to relax,then come back to it prepared and do nothing. I have to do a 20 page investigation today,infact i set my alarm to get up and do it straight away,but i've still managed to do the same thing. Part of me says it's my own lack of self discipline,but it's more than that because even when i discipline myself to do it i cant concentrate at all,i just get a cloudy feeling in my head. Worse still,i have an exam tomorrow and i'm pretty much gauranteed to fail this one and i've been there all year so it feels like i've just wasted another year of my life,but the ups and downs have a lot to do with it.

How do you talk to an on site doc/nurse/counsellor? You mean the people who work at the college? I've never actually thought about that,i'm not sure if they have it where i go.

I've had therapy before a couple of times,but they have gave up on me because i didn't turn up a lot of the time,due to depressed periods or a complete change in my approach like 'i can do this myself' kinda thing.

Do you work or do education or anything smiler? Thank for replying :) was good of you

Hey there shine.. how are you? Did you get your paper written? Like smiler, I can totally relate to what you posted.. 98% of the things I do, are at the last minute... And boy do I work myself into a tizzy to boot! Then afterward I look back and say "Why do I keep doing that.. next time... " yeah, and then when next time rolls around, I again what til the last minute... vicious cycle it is! Hang in there, you're not the only one, we are here for ya!

I am in my last year of college and I work part time as well.  I definitely think that school can be very stressful, and balancing work on top of that is hard.  I notice that I get anxious when I have a lot of school work to do.  It is helpful just to do one chunk of it at a time, and gradually work away at it.  Instead of thinking about the whole 20 pages, just concentrate on one part.  Get on the computer and just see what you can get done.  I think that sometimes my anxiety about doing something is actually worse than doing it.  It also helps to exercise, and do stress release activities.

Hi again - to answer your question....I have a job in the souvenir industry , we make things for places like stone henge , buckingham palace , assorted castles etc.... I have a 5 & a half year old (which I call a job , and most parents would agree tongue ) I do this (modding) each day....although when I'm depressed I let things slip a bit sometimes eyes I would like to take some further education in a few areas but I want to get some meds & counselling sorted first (been waiting since October mad ).

Hey guys. I got that investigation done,it was a bit patchy,but i'm guessing the lecturer will give it back if it's not going to pass and just ask me to change it.

Hey,that's a cool job smiler,just makes you think of day trips to those places when i was younger,not stonhenge or buckingham palace,but museums and stuff where you got to visit the souvinner shop at the end of school trips. People with bipolar and children are insipirational to me and you've still got the time and commitment to moderate here :) that is more inspirational for me than quotes (all though some of the ones i read on that other post did get me thinking) cool

Excercise deffinetly helps,but it's really difficult to stop doing it obsessivly when your in a manic phase and really difficult to get out your bed when your in a depressed phase. What you studying at college and where you workin jade? I don't know how you do that,i tried it at the start of the year but quit the job,holding down a job is really difficult for me. college is difficult enough. I done what you said,just concentrated on one part at a time and i managed to get through,so thanks for your advice :)

What keeps me modding is the thought that there could be someone out there feeling like I did , not knowing what was wrong with me , and feeling there was no-one I could confide in.......I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
