Hey everyone! My new meds have finally kicked in and I'm not sad anymore! I'm not anxious anymore! I'm not a zombie, I'm not sweating, I'm not oversleeping or overeating or anything. My mind isn't racing. I haven't cried in days. I just feel better. YAY!

(Please oh please let it last.)

So depressed today, but I absolutely had to share in your joy.  I am beyond thrilled and happy for you.  I too hope it lasts.  Just can't tell you how happy I am to know you are feeling well.  YAY!!! yeah

Thanks everyone. I've been cycling since April and trying new things. It's been a hellish summer. We've had two deaths in the family and lots of travel, much of which I've just wanted to curl up in the corner for.

I'm now taking Lamictal 400, Topomax 100, Effexor 225, and Ativan as needed. The Topomax and the Effexor are new. I'd been taking Prozac for years as my AD, but it stopped working. I've been waiting for a month to see if the Effexor was going to do it. Just last week I realized I felt better. Just better. The oppression was gone. And it couldn't have come at a better time. I was traveling to visit my family (never a good time.) We had airline woes and a sick toddler, but I took it all in stride.

And I know it's not mania. I just feel okay. Alright. Steady.

We don't see many happy stories on this board, so I thought I'd share.

sounds good! Very similiar to what i have taken, although I stopped taking lamictal at 200mgs. and now wish I hadn't I am taking 75mgs. topamax and 3mg. invega thats new I really want to try lamictal again because compared to how I feel now I felt great on 200mg. and it sounds like I just needed to increase the dose, I'll talk to my doc. Thank you soooo much for sharing your story. My p-doc however wants to avoid antidepressants for me, I was on prozac and had my manic episode I don't know if that was the cause. So happy for you I want to be there too I still cry everyday. Keep it up.

I am happy that you found the meds that work well for you.  I have been through a lot of med changes in the past, and it was a pain.  Again, I am glad you found something, that makes you stable without the bad side-effects.

Exactly--when the prozac stopped pulling its weight, I got manic. That's how my cycle started. We've been trying to correct it all summer. But I'm BPII: I can't manage without an AD. We tried for a few weeks and I was a blubbering mess. Not pretty. :) So we added the topomax for extra balancing action and we've been slowing ramping up the effexor to see if it would work. Seems to be so far. I love my lamictal. I've been on it for something like 4-5 years now. 400 mgs all the way: 200 morning and 200 night. But I didn't have any side effects from it. Some people don't tolerate it well.
