bipolar wife triggering when starting new jobs?

so my wife is finally getting some good treatment for her bp,,she is on abilify,has been for 3 months and they are still working on the right dosage,,,she has started 2 jobs in the past 2 weeks,,both times at the end of day 2 she came home and would cry,,,like someone died crying saying she hated it and it was stressing her out,,these were retail/clerical jobs,,one website listed starting a new job as a trigger,,,anyone have any input?

Welcome to the board. I don't really have any advice for you except to be patient with her. I haven't worked in years. But I am sure that the other members will have some really good advice. You have definately come to the right place.

I'm sorry it's taken me a couple of days to reply --

Yes, starting a job is a huge stressor, and stress is very hard for bipolar patients. I'm not sure why she decided to start 2 at the same time, but one would have been plenty stressful. Two is going a bit over the top. She can work through the stress, or she could drop one of the jobs, adjust to the other one, and pick up another job when she feels ready. Your wife may be completely different, but lots of bipolar patients can't hold full time work because the stress and the time commitment is to hard.

Hello Follow, There was a time where I didn't works for over a year and went back to work only about 14 hours a week. I was going to school full time which I guess can count as a full time job in its self. Let me tell you the hours of work were short, but the stress was really bad. I eventually had to quit work because I couldn't handle school and work. I cannot imagine having 2 jobs, I don't think that I could handle it. There is no way I would function at 100% at both jobs. So yes, stress is a big trigger for bipolar patients, and can lead to mood swings and other things.

Yes, I agree-BE PATIENT. yeah

I have just been diagnosed.  My husband and I have disguessed several times that there is no way I could work right now.  We hope I will in the near future but I'm not so sure.  Your spouse needs reasurrence.  I wish u and ur spouse well.
