Getting ready to start med #8, maybe #9.  Just wanted to get a heads-up if anyone had success with this drug.  I have almost always been very manic and slightly depressive, but lately I have been more depressed and rapid cycling.  They think I may be schizo as well.

Any input on this med would be appreciated.  If I cannot get stable soon, I feel I will be single and unemployed.  Not having the best of days.  OK, enough whining! eyes

Lift me up people!!!!!!!!!!!

HI I have taken Zyprexa since 2006.......... I take a lose dose of 5 mgs.. and I havent gained weight on this drug. like so many others have.. It works for me...

Thanks for the reply! and a positive one at that.  OK, I feel there is hope that maybe this is the one that will help me.  I usually always have that attitude but it never quite works out.  when I was on Trileptal, after about 10 days my skin started itching so bad that I felt like I had somethig crawling on me!  when your eyelashes itch, now that is a weirde feeling.

Thanks again.....I need encouragement!  My husband is like, "Another med?"  oh well..

Hey, you have to keep trying right? What is your alternative? Your husband should be glad you're still trying because so many BP's give up, give in to the mania, wreak havoc on their lives and then just go. If another med is what it takes, then you're a strong woman to keep trying.

Lots of people say Zyprexa really works for them, but they give up on it because of the weight gain. But if it is the only thing that works for you, you may have to deal with a few extra pounds. Or hopefully, like Caren, you won't gain anything at all.

Why do you think you may be schizophrenic? Did the doc say that or are you just feeling especially bad lately? Don't convince yourself you have illnesses you don't -- that'll just worry you and make you feel worse. You need encouragement and a positive outlook. You're going to be okay. The docs will find the right combo. I know it doesn't look that way right now, but you will get there in the end.

Me give up?  Never!  Serafena thanks for the pep talk.  I really have been feeling very very badly lately.  My PDoc said (I could not wait until my next appointment, had to go on and go early) that because my mania went soooooooo long untreated and after reading my life's history, all ups and downs and side ways crazy things I have done and that have happened to me, schizophrenia was secondary to BPI and PTSD.  He thinks maybe that is why standard approaches have not been met with optimal or even marginal results so far.  But I am encouraged with each new medication I try that "this will be the one."  If I did not cling to that hope, I would not be the great person I know I can be.  So many people, all through my life have told me how strong I am.  I just never really saw myself that way.  I always thought I was just stupidly optimistic  ha ha ha ha ha

I was on it for 9 months it helped with the Depressive side and racing thoughts however I got severe tingling and swelling od my feet and hands that it hurt to even type or write. So I was put off it right away and had to take a med to get rid of the water retention. However, it did help. I've been on atleast 9 mood stabilizers in 7 yrs all did not agree with my body but Neurontin BUT after I had my daughter who is now 4 my hormones changed and Neurontin made me agressive and constantly high and not in a good way!

How about starting a new thread and telling us a bit about yourself. What's your experience been with bipolar? What meds are you on? What brought you to the board? That sort of thing...

Third day Zyprexa and I feel like the "me" I have not in a long time. I am so praying that it last. Probably too early to tell but I am keeping my stupidly optimistic mood that this is the one that works!
Today I am loving life, even though I am at work ha ha ha ha ha.

Please keep those positive "vibs" coming my way!
