If you remember I was going to see a new pdoc...here's what happened. I was
offically dx'd with bipolar with mixed episodes and also told I had addicitive personality disorder as well. I think I'm going to like her; she's a straight to the point kind of person, dosen't mince words (even though that can be difficult at times) and isn't rushing in to start flipping around all my meds. First she wants a behavioral assessment done, also wants me to go to an out patient program for the addictive disorder, wants records from all other pdocs and groups I've been too (ever) and wants to see me back next week to form a game plan; so to speak. She was very thorough today, asked a lot of questions, took several notes and spent at least thirty minutes with me. Told me that she was always available even if I didn't have an appointment and if I needed her I'd be worked in that day. Explained that since she worked this way there may be times my waiting period could be longer for a scheduled appt. then normal (I really appreciated her candor). I'm little drained right now but I have hope!
I wish that all pdocs worked in this manner...it would make it easier on the patient. Our disease is hard enough without good doctors in place. I realize that I'll have to do my part and that I have a long road ahead of me but I do believe there's a light at the end of the tunnel and it's not a train, lol!!!
