I went to psychaolist and he said that he thinks I have some kind of mood disorder going on. He said he's not sure yet what until I get this test done that he wants me have done. My boyfriend the one said I could be bipolar . I go from being happy then something just tigger it where I get irrtated then anger and then really sad and cry alot. The doctor put me on these two kind of medicines citalopram 20mg then help me sleep and get ready of racing thoughts at night trazodone 100 mg. I was wondering if anyone else has taken these and if they help them or what kind of side effects they had. I also have crohns disease and thyroid problem and endometrosis and mitral value prolapse. Am on pentasa 500 mg 3 in the morning and 3 evening and levothyroxin 100mg and nexium 20 mg and birth control. any help would sure be appeariate.

Welcome to the bipolar board.

What kind of test is your psychologist asking to have done? There isn't really a test for bipolar. It's certainly possible if you're having mood swings, but bipolar is more than mood swings. You need mania or hypomania for bipolar.

I have never taken the trazodone or citalopram personally, but I know bunches on people here have, so hopefully you'll get some feedback about that. Thyroid problems can mimic mood disorders as well, but if you've got that under control that shouldn't be a problem (is that the test he wants done?) What ever turns up, you'll be okay. I hope the meds help even you out and give you some relief. Keep writing and let us know how you're doing.

The doctor told me its a test where it kind of tests my moods or something like that. They told me might have bipolar II because I have alot of episodes being very low and also anger ones . But know more the more I see the doctor and he can tell me exactly what it is because he said can't tell yet just on the first visit.
