I am new here and wanted to know if anyone here receives disability. Need some help with info.

I'm on disability.  Fill out the paperwork. They'll send you to one of their therapists to evaluate you.  You will be denied.  You will then hire a lawyer, appeal and win.  Takes a year or so from start to finish.

I just finally got approved for ssdi. I wanted to know like on the retro-active pay how much taxes are taking out an like whendo you usually get yor monthly checks. It took me over 5 years to get it!!! I'm 42 and have seen people wo were older and had less problems than me and got it no problem. Now try and tell me there is no prejudice against younger applicants.nono

WTG! I believe what time of the month depends on your birthday. Mine is direct deposited on the 3rd of the month. As for taxes, they don't automatically take it out. If you want them to you have to request it and fill out paperwork. If I recall correctly only half is taxable.

I can see what you are saying.  I am 30 and they look at me like I muat be trying to work the system when I go in. I have to go on and on about how I keep getting worse and I can't even seem to keep up on life without working- that adding a job would take away any productive time I have in the home and send me into a tailspin like it did before I stopped working.

Just because I am young, they keep saying that I should be able to scan purchases in a store like walmart- or bag groceries- or something like that.  Right.  If I could do someting like that I would be able to go grocery shopping without it taking everything out of me.  Just because I am young I shouold be able to fall into a "no skill job" without too much trouble.

Sorry for my rant- I just felt like I knew what she was feeling there...

To me, if you feel you are qualified to receive benefits don't even mess around with trying to do it yourself because history has shown that they will just deny you anyway the first couple of times waiting for you to give up.

I have other health issues but got a lawyer right away who specializes in social security disability benefits.  He walked me through the whole process and I was approved within 6months!  Saves you a lot of grief and anxiety! Well worth the money spent.  Plus the lawyer took his fee right out of my first check so I didn't have to come up with any money at the start.  Well worth it to me!!!
